Awww! My boys lost! I almost always root for Australia in international sports, but I so wanted Japan to move on. *cry* It will take pretty much a miracle for that now, though. My prediction is that Brazil will wipe the floor with all three other teams in their group, so the battle is really for the second spot in the group. Australia is doing much better than I anticipated, so it's looking like they're going to be the ones in that spot.
*laughs out loud* Yeah, that's pretty much going to describe my KenKen when I'm finished with him. Aya's looking forward to collecting on this game. *evil grin*
I have to admit I didn't expect Australia to do all that well. But they looked freaking fantastic in that game. It's been a long time, but what a reintroduction, right?
Looks like Koller is out of the game. A mention was made of a possible hamstring problem? I'm not watching so I didn't get to see what happened. I'm having to read text updates.
Re: hamstring - it's probably because this season hasn't been kind to him, injury wise. He just made it for the last day of the season for Bayern Munich, I heard.
So far the US is faster and dominates the possession, but they have yet to break past the Czech defence. And the Rosicky goal is sublime. :)
That was the difference between the two teams, even though, the Americans had the ball most of the time, they really wweren't doing much with it - but credit is due to Johnson who was a real suprise on the American side. As for the Czech, when they had possession, they showed us what the experince can give a player, and that was by having control of the way the game progressed and such whenever they had the ball. This team has been my favourites since the Euros 2004, where they went to the finals, and could not lift the Cup, mainly because Nedved, the star player of that game, got injured early on.
Czech Rep v USA - What can I say, when you have world class player like Pavel Nedved, its really hard for the opposition to do much about it. I mean, whenever the guy had possession of the ball, it was like he had complete control, making it look like he could do anything with that ball. And, OMG, did he produce some great passes that ended in goals. Actually, sans the first goal by Koller, he is the one that builded up the two goals for Rosicky. Who by the way, is coming to Aresenal come the new season. Can't wait.
