Kicking Ass, Teamwork-Style, etc. (Wednesday, Period 3/Week 1)

May 08, 2012 22:06

If there was any significance to the fact that the Danger Shop looked like a backyard decked out with a makeshift archery range and training dummies, Kennedy wasn't saying. Anyway, it seemed like a nice mix of kickback and "time to do work." She was pacing back and forth on the far side of the yard by the archery target, waiting for everyone to ( Read more... )

By the time the list of "oh and I'm a minor Greek deity" and "I can fly, does that count?" powers had been rattled off, Ace's eyes were about three times as wide as when she stepped into the room and twice as wide as she'd like them to be. She didn't mind looking impressed, because she was; intimidated, though, was unacceptable.

"I'm Ace. I blow things up." So there.

Note that she didn't say how.

Refusing to look intimidated? Four for you, Ace.

"Right to the point, huh?" Kennedy asked lightly. "Making things go boom: more of a skill, or a hobby?"

She was really hoping it wasn't, like, recreational. What? You never knew with Fandom kids.

Ace had to think about that for a moment, then she grinned. "Lifelong vocation?"

...well then.

"Gotta say, as far as callings in life go, that's a new one to me." Kennedy was going to worry about the structural integrity of the island now. "But... useful?"

Someone please tell her she wasn't going to regret positive reinforcement here.

Domestic science being the sort of science where you learned how not to burn toast.

Well, at least this was Fandom and not some mundane school, Kennedy decided, so incidents, if you will, might be easier to spin. And there had been an incident a while ago involving her own spectacular failure at making oatmeal and Giles's vocal disapproval, so 'domestic science' got a distasteful grimace of recognition.

"Going out on a limb here, but that course swap didn't stick, did it?"

Please do not team up with Angelica and end up blowing up the school, Ace.

Uh huh, sure. Dammit, Kennedy really wanted to approve of that, except she probably shouldn't, and gah.

"Eh. That's what they get for using inferior toasters anyway." Not you, Sam Anders. Stop glaring from California.
