"You control machines with your voice?" Riley asked, eyes widening. And he remembered that she lived around him and that just a few days after their unpleasant first meeting, his electronics had been toast. "Was that your doing? My stuff! Are you the one who did it?"

"Take the stupid communicator," he said, leaving it where it was. "This isn't over though, you and me."
Because now that he knew, he was determined to take revenge. "I'm outta here. Next time, maybe say thank you before you get in on how you can do it better."
He brushed past and purposefully bumped her shoulder as he moved past (because he was twelve) as he walked out of the library for the day.
