Jessica was making her way back to her room after her radio broadcast when she heard the distinctive sound of people in the common room. So she stopped in.

"Good morning," she said. "What're we watching today?"

"Hey, five dollars is big money," Jessica pointed out.

Right now, it was kind of big money for him. Sad state of affairs.

"Yeah, you can maybe get two whole packs of gum with five bucks," Flick said dryly. "I can see why you'd hound me for the money so badly. Gum is such an important commodity."

Emma shrugged. "Don't know, don't care."

"Just enjoying the fact that it's on? Or are you just completely ignoring it?" Jessica asked.

"Don't watch it that much," Emma said with another shrug. "Besides, there's food."

You couldn't eat television.

"That's the real magic of Fandom. Every common room stocked with food," Jessica noted. "I'm Jessica, by the way."

"I figured it was either that, or I'm less social than I thought and still had some people from the start of the summer to meet," Jessica said.

"I could've been hidden in my room. Not much for socialising either." Emma had talked to more people in the last two days than she usually did in two weeks.

"Still, there are classes, and the occasional bouts of weirdness where people end up doing stuff whether they want to or not. Things happen," Jessica said.

Things happen was the story of Emma's life. "Yeah, classes." She'd finally gotten around to looking at the papers they'd shoved in her hands the night before. "Interesting selection for a summer camp."

"Think of it less as a summer camp and more as a crazy place where crazy things get all crazy," Jessica suggested. "It's much more accurate, I promise you that."

Cade did suggest drinking as a way to cope. "So crazy island is crazy?"
