Feb 17, 2015 07:18

What Gwen was learning was that even if you went back on that "I'm better than my hormones" bit this week, it didn't matter if you thought you fixed everything, it came back. So when marched into the common room ready to be grouchy and hate everything some more... and she walked into a party ( Read more... )

"It sounds like it might be fun in books," Rapunzel offered hesitantly, blushing. "I mean, people here seem like they do it all the time, and they wouldn't if it wasn't any fun, right?"

Plus the bit of making out that she'd done made Rapunzel want more, sometimes, in an abstract and far-away sort of way.

"I bet it's...nice with someone you love," she added on a moony sigh. "I mean, when you're married and all."

"I bet you're right," Anna agreed. "If we were married, it'd be utterly magical. It was when he kissed me, too."

She'd also lost the ability to speak for a couple of minutes. Hans had game.

"I didn't realize people here ... did that," she said, frowning suddenly. "Wait, my sister ... she has a boyfriend. You don't think ..."

Sooooo. There was something that could freeze her libido today. That was interesting.

"Oh, no," Rapunzel said hurriedly. "No, I don't think so. I mean, it's Barry, for one thing."

Sorry, Barry. Rapunzel was just going to assume you were built like a Ken doll, forever, for her own sanity.

"Plus there's, you know." She raised her eyebrows, because obviously Elsa's sister would know about her secret.

"How reserved she is?" Anna giggled. "Sorry! I don't mean that badly. Just, you know, it's Elsa. Elsa's very Elsa. I can't picture her ..."

The flutter of her hands dispelled the last of her concerns. See? Right. Totally not something that would ever happen.

"That," Rapunzel agreed with a giggle, "yeah, and -- you know. The other thing."

...surely she knew the other thing, right?

Anna blinked. And then drew a slow, steady breath.

"The whatever-it-is that she's so afraid of," Anna said, unaware that her fingers were clasping tightly around her own upper arms. She felt a sudden chill. "Where she thinks she hurt me, once, but it was just some kind of an accident, and she blames herself, and she locks herself away. That other thing."

Rapunzel bit her lower lip, immediately feeling her stomach sink.

"You don't know," she said, probably unnecessarily. "I thought you knew -- about that. I didn't know she'd hurt you, though."

And she couldn't help the way her eyes flicked to the streak in Anna's hair. She could make her guesses, there.

"I promised her I wouldn't tell," she murmured, wincing a little. "I'm -- I'm sorry."

"She didn't mean to," Anna said, automatically. There was no way that Rapunzel thought that she did, but Anna had to defend Elsa, anyway. "It was an accident. You can't -- you really can't tell me?"

She didn't want Rapunzel to feel uncomfortable, or to violate a confidence, but ...

"My whole life, no one has ever told me," she said. "All I knew was that something was wrong. Please."

"I...I wish I could," Rapunzel said softly, squeezing her eyes shut for a moment because -- well. She could relate to that, Anna.

Especially since Anna had been the one to tell her something she'd been wondering her whole life.

"But I promised. And...and it's not my secret," she added, opening her eyes apologetically. "I'm so sorry, Anna. Elsa needs to be the one to tell you, and if she's not ready, then I can't...it's not right for me to do it for her. I promised."

And she didn't break her promises. Ever.

"I-it's okay," Anna managed, quickly, feeling terrible to have put the other girl in that position. "I shouldn't have asked. I mean, I should have asked, but your'e right, it's not you I need to be asking. I can't ask you to break a confidence."

But she was strengthening her resolve. She needed answers. Soon.

"I-is it bad, though?" she asked. "No. Sorry. You probably can't answer that. I just mean -- is she okay?"

"I think it's neat," Rapunzel told her honestly. "But I don't have to live with it like Elsa does, so she probably...thinks differently about it than I do."

She paused, worrying her lower lip for a moment before offering, "She showed me to make me feel better about, um, a secret that I have, actually? And...and that was really nice of her, because it did make me feel better, but I don't think she would've told me otherwise."

She glanced around, and added, "And that -- my secret? I can show you. Later. Not here. It's kind of a show-not-telling thing."
