This journal is generally open to whomever would like to friend it!
I admit there are some friends only posts, mostly about my personal life and my relationship. Fannish stuff, whether footie or otherwise, is still completely open to whoever would like to read it, though - so feel free to friend me!
Here's what you'll find here.
My life: I'm Kawa. 24 years old, recently got out of graduate school in Melbourne, Florida, USA for a Master's of Science in Operations Research - basically a mathematics degree that says "I Can Make You More Efficient." I'm working on figuring out what happens next. I was born and raised in New York City and came back here, mostly because my fiance is going for a doctoral degree in Ecology and Evolution about two hours away. Yes, I whine about the long distance now and then.
Stuff I'm into: I like, in no particular order: really good anime, origami, cooking/baking, soccer/football (Germans and Americans especially), fanfiction, Dungeons and Dragons Fourth Edition, video games (Nintendo, older Square-Enix, Valve Software, Bethesda, various roguelikes, and other indie games), freshwater fish tanks, and generally being on Livejournal too much.
Some specific favorites in those things: Favorite anime ever are Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex and Bakemonogatari. [Clearly, I have a thing for tsundere ladies. Eep.] My cooking idols are Alton Brown and
Deb Perelman. My favorite footballer is Philipp Lahm; it is his fault I am in love with FC Bayern Munich. I'm also a fan of Chelsea FC, for reasons that are varied and complex, including the fact that they are the first club I ever saw live. The New York Red Bulls are my home MLS team, as I am originally a New Yorker and Florida no longer has MLS. I became a football fan through international (specifically World Cup) games, though, so my love will always be to the German and American national teams.
I own a computer powerful enough to run Crysis, a pink Nintendo DS Lite, an original PSP that is capable of running homebrew, and a PSP-2000 that I stole from my fiance. I have a soft spot for the Pokemon games, both main series and Mystery Dungeon. I enjoyed World Ends With You, Star Ocean, and a whole lot of other games, though my favorite game in the whole wide world will always be Final Fantasy VI, which is the only game I can say I have beaten more than once. I can sometimes be found on a random server playing Engineer in Team Fortress 2, though sometimes I'll switch it up and play Pyro or Scout. I've become a Bethesda fangirl as well; I played a high-karma gunslinger in Fallout 3, side with the NCR in New Vegas, and with the Stormcloaks (despite being a Redguard) in Skyrim. My favorite roguelike is
Ancient Domains of Mystery, though I also like
Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup, Nethack vanilla, and Dungeons of Dredmor; I have yet to ascend, sadly, but I'm definitely working on it in the Crawl case. I characterize myself as an administrator, explorer, builder, and theorycrafter in Minecraft, am an avid fan of the Mindcrack LP community, and am the American moderator at a small UK-based vanilla survival PvE server. Between myself and my fiance we own almost every Humble Indie Bundle, all the Christine Love visual novels, and a smattering of other indie games, and are backers of the Ouya Kickstarter campaign to get our hands on the open source Android-based console. My first fish was a crowntail betta, and I loved it so; my tanks are always planted as well.
Other things I do: Feel free to contact me on MSN Messenger: fandomonymous @ hotmail.com, or you can use LJ Messenger if you have it set up.
I have a twitter:
@fandomonymous. It is totally open, though I often forget I own it. I also have a tumblr that I tend not to remember exists:
fandomonymous. Many of my posts are crossposted from
Dreamwidth.
If you are a fan of the German NT and like reading fanfiction about them in English, I have
some recommendations for you. Feel free to recommend me fic! I'm also active at
touchline and
footballmeta.
If you are on Gaia Online, I am a crew member of the
German NT guild there, so feel free to join!
