How is posting unanon egotistical? It's not as if people post fics outside of kink memes anon. What's the difference? Because it's kinky? People post kinky fics outside of kink memes too.
(Yes, I understand the irony of commenting anon while defending posting unanon.)
For me, it's because one named user then has long conversations with another named user and then all the other named users have their bromances above you because you're anon and can't put a name to yourself.
It feels bad, man. You're contributing exactly the same but because you're not X you don't get the standard 'omg it's u lol kewl x' replies.
It's selfish but it's why it pisses me off, at least.
Not OP, but agreed. The kinkmeme for my little fandom almost crashed and burned over sockpuppets. The named sockpuppets turned the meme into their own personal circlejerk and so it dwindled to pretty much just their (usually crappy) posts and requests.
When the idea of going to an all-anon meme was brought up, they had a shitfit, because of those goshdarn cowardly plebian anons being super jealous of their talent and popularity, and how encouragement from a sockpuppet just meant so very, very much to fledgling writers! Certainly more than a "hey, I like this!" from some stupid anon no one knew or cared about!
A different anon -- I agree. I know they're not trying to be like, "OH LOOK AT ME. PRAISE MY FIC."
But... let's face it. When someone posts unanon, they're able to (and very frequently WILL) develop a small fanbase that then comments on all their future fics in the meme. An anon will not get anywhere near the same amount of attention and devotion by virtue of the anonymity.
And yes, the long threads of users conversing with each other and carrying on personal conversations tend to happen a lot more often when the users are unanon.
Oh, and of course you get prompters specifically requesting certain named users to fill their fic ("This is X bait!", "This prompt is directed toward X, but anyone is free to fill it!"). Ugh so annoying.
Uh maybe on your meme. On the one I frequent, a lot of the most popular prompts and fills come from anon. Anon or not has very little, if any bearing, on how much attention something gets. As far as journal comments? Yes. Attention/praise given on the meme? No.
Does being anon somehow make you unable to have a conversation? Or you're suddenly afraid to talk to named users when you're anon? Because I really don't see what's the problem there. If you would like to have a conversation and have something to say just...say it.
people don't reply as readily or often to anon posts as they do to signed in ones. so yeah, it makes it a little hard to actually have a conversation when everyone is jumping on to the signed in threads.
Then you should choose nicer people to talk with, because if they're ignoring anons just because they're anons then they're not worth your time and effort.

Say there are three people: Signed in writer X, Signed in reader Y and anon Z.
X writes a fic. Y applauds. X writes more. Y goes 'oh I can see how this links to that fic and how your characterisation is developed from you previous fics! I will look out for your fiction in future'. X and Y start to bond.
Z also writes fic. However, Y might go 'yay' but they can't have a longer conversation because they don't know what fics X has written.
X and Y storm up the meme with their bromance, Z is forever alone. Get it now?
If Y has nothing else to say except a "yay" then...well, yeah, they're likely to "yay" at every fic they like without any elaborate praise, which isn't a good conversation starter anyway. But if Z says "yay, I like points A and B about your fic, and blablabla etc" than I don't see how being anon would stop you from continuing the talk and even jumping to other conversation topics from that.
Sure, to take the next step and become friends you need to reveal yourself to the other person, and if you're not comfortable with that then you'll forever be conversation buddies on kink memes, but that's to be expected when posting anon, and I assume you don't post anon on kink memes expecting to gain a fanbase.
