Getting back to Coruscant had involved a lot of immediate activity in trying to get things settled and telling people and getting information and yet for as hard as it was, Jaina preferred it to when all that was done and she had time to herself again.

She'd considered making this call before she'd even left Hapes, and she'd say she'd waited to get more information about what was going on- which was true- but she just really didn't want to have to make this call.

But she had to do it, so she called and maybe hoped that he wouldn't pick up, because this would be horrible to leave on someone's voicemail.

She paused. "Can I get some clarification on that?"

"Alema didn't kill Mom," Ben said. "He's running in the wrong direction."

[solo_sword]

"Yeah. I know," Jaina said, not willing to get more into detail on what else she maybe possibly thought and never wanted to admit to. She had limits today. "We're headed after Alema because she needs to be taken out already, but we're not treating it the same way he is."

"He's going in angry," Ben said softly. "And that's really, really bad."

[solo_sword]

"Trust me, I know. I'm kind of hoping if I can do the dirty work it'll ease things up for him a bit." That wouldn't have helped her post-Myrkr, but she'd also say Luke was smarter than she'd been.

"Watch for Ben too?" he murmured. "He'll tailspin too, but everyone's...occupied."

[solo_sword]

"I talked to him," Jaina said. "But that's the part that worries me. I'm not sure how much I'm going to be around."

And she wasn't even going to be accessible soon enough, which was going to turn into a problem when you were trying to keep tabs on say, Ben and Tahiri.

"Where are you going?"

All Ben could remember of Jaina during the time around Mara's death was that she hadn't gotten to the funeral, which was probably a good thing.

She would have punched Jacen.

He'd be lucky if he just got punched.

"Not entirely sure yet. We're picking up Alema's trail while it's still hot, which seems to be toward Ossus, but we'll see," she said.

"Be careful," Ben said softly. "And give everyone a hug for me."

[solo_sword]

"I will," she promised. "Make people there hug you. It'll be like they're being returned." This was a lie. She just thought Ben probably needed hugs.

"Love you, Jaina," he said. "And I'm so, so, so sorry."

Because somehow this was his fault.

"You have nothing to be sorry about," Jaina told him. "I love you, too, and I'll talk to you soon."

"You better," Ben replied. "I'll worry."

[solo_sword]

"Try not to worry too much," she said, though she knew that was so not happening. "Bye, Ben."
