Caritas- Friday

Sep 26, 2014 17:33

It was Parents Weekend, and so Caritas was open. The zombies were probably still hoping people would buy their merchandise (apparently they'd branched out into posters) but Tino had somehow gotten bow ties on them to dress them up, and there was some extra Febreze tonight. That probably wouldn't help keep anyone from asking about them, but there ( Read more... )

Anna didn't know what she had expected from this weekend, but this wasn't it. She'd met Elsa, who had quickly fled, and then Barry, Elsa's boyfriend, who had gone to talk to her.

Elsa ... had a boyfriend. Okay, then.

Anna had wandered a bit, looking for interesting people to meet, and had somehow ended up here, in some kind of local tavern. She'd asked the barkeep (Tino? What a funny name) to list off some drinks for her, and had picked one that sounded fun. It was fizzy and sweet and made her feel a bit warmer. She ought to have a few more.

If Elsa didn't want her here, that was fine. She would just make new friends. And possibly have some more of these drinks. They were delightful.

"Here for the weekend?" Kitty asked her from behind the bar.

"Yes!" Anna said brightly. "Possibly not the ... best decision I've ever made, but I'm embracing it. And meeting new people."

This was the perfect opportunity for that. She stuck her hand across the bar.

"Hi! I'm Anna."

"Kitty," she said, shaking her hand. "Is it not working out so well?"

"Not exactly," Anna sighed. "I surprised my sister? And she ... ran ... the other direction. So ... I'm guessing I'm not all that welcome?"

She was trying to sound like that didn't bother her.

"But that's okay, because this place is lovely and whatever these fizzy drinks are, they're helping."

"Those'll do that." She of course assumed Anna knew they were alcoholic. "I'm sure it was probably just the surprise. Tomorrow'll probably a whole other story."

Hopefully.

Anna was perhaps a little fuzzy on the concept of alcohol and why it was a bad idea to drink a lot of it in one setting. Consider this a life lesson!

"I bet you're right," she said, nodding. "I should have written, first, I guess. I was just worried she'd tell me not to come, and I really wanted to come."

Elsa was here. People were here. It wasn't a deserted Norwegian castle. Fandom was awesome.

"Well, you've got two more days to figure things out," Kitty said. "Two days can be a long time."

"Especially if you didn't ... quite ... make plans for being here," Anna admitted, fidgeting. "Is there an inn somewhere? I have money. I hope they have room, still. I was kind of thinking ..."

She'd been assuming that she would stay wherever Elsa was. That plan was starting to have some difficulties, such as Elsa not being in the same room with her ever.

"There's the Arms Hotel. It's out the door and straight down the street for about a block," Kitty said.

After talking with Elsa, Barry headed back to the picnic to find... no one.

Fuck.

And so he quickly started running all over town until he got to Caritas where... shit. Anna was at the bar.

"God fucking damn it," Barry grumbled and headed to the bar where she sat. "Anna? I think it's time for you to come back to the dorm. Elsa wants to see you."

"She did?" Anna asked, perking up immediately. "I mean, she did? I mean, did she?"

Okay, she was a little bit tipsy, but the bigger problem was that she couldn't decide if she wanted to be haughty about it or not. Because Elsa had run away, but on the other hand, if Elsa actually did want to talk to her, for real, then she wasn't going to ruin that by being haughty.

"Did she really or are you just saying that?" she asked, suspiciously.

"She really does," Barry said with a heartfelt grin. "Trust me. This is a big step for her. I know how fucking isolated the two of you were from each other. Just... don't rush her. Baby steps with her, okay? She's making tea."

Anna was watching Barry to see if he was just kidding her or having her on, but he looked serious.

And that meant he was getting an immense hug from his girlfriend's little sister.

"Baby steps!" she said. "I can do that! Tea! Baby steps and tea! Thank you, thank you, thank you!"

And with that, Anna was off. Running towards the dorms as quickly as her legs would carry her.

Barry let out a sigh. If he was a drinking type of person, right now would be a perfect time for a beer.

Instead he ordered an iced tea from Tino and slumped a little at the bar.

"This fucking day," he said with a sigh.

"That was adorable," Roxie grinned, as she sauntered up behind Barry and punched him on the arm. "Look at you, being all Dr. Phil."
