 20. The Compound S. A. Bodeen **** (reread, read with Chriss) The first time I read this, I really wanted to know what was going on, so I read it as fast as I could. This time around, we went a bit slower so I was able to gain a greater appreciation for just how screwed up the dad is. I also have a greater appreciation for Eli’s emotional ( Read more... )

I agree with what you said about Diary of a Wimpy kid. After reading all five (?) books, it does get a little annoying with Greg's attitude and the way he treats other people. I'm expecting him to grow and change but he really doesn't. Kinda sad, actually, because they are fun books.

We're on book four now. T still loves them and they are fun, but I still find myself getting a bit annoyed at Greg's attitude.

I've read five of the books on your list. I like Blood Magic, too. I agree with your comments. I'm listening to Vera Dietz now. One more disc. I like it. I've been wanting to read Hunger and Rage. Oh! You know they're making City of Bones into a movie...it comes up next year. The casting has been interesting to watch. It will be interesting to see which movie does better, Bones or Hunger Games. I think HG because it has a wider audience appeal. But The Mortal Instrument series is a strong series.

I didn't know they were making a movie of City of Bones too. That's cool. I'm really excited about the Hunger Games one.

I have both City of Bones and Hunger in my TBR pile. I've seen many people praise CoB, but haven't heard anything about Hunger; that was an "impulse buy" for me because the premise intrigued me. Glad to see at least one person out there thought it was good (albeit understandably difficult)!

City of Bones was much better than I expected it to be. I'm not huge into paranormal, but I really enjoyed that book. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series. I hope you like Hunger. I got it because it sounded interesting and then I met Jackie Kessler at the Rochester Teen Book Festival back in May and got to hear her personal story in the bully panel she did with Heather Brewer and A. S. King. I think it definitely impacted my impressions as I read the book.
