The Christmas Party was different that year. He sat to the side watching everyone else get drunk and have fun, but it wasn’t the same. It wasn’t the same with out the one friend who understood him.

The one friend who had quit abruptly that year. He saw him from time to time but most of the time he ignored him when he passed by. They had chatted a couple of times but it was almost as though work was the only thing that kept their friendship together.

It wasn’t fair, he didn’t even know the reason why he quit and yet he was supposed to act friendly towards him? The rest of the staff went along with it like nothing happened but he wasn’t like that. He had feelings.

His mother walked in on him crying one night and he had to lie to finally get her to go away. He missed him. He wanted to know what was going on in his life. Whether or not he had finally got a dame. He wanted to tell him what had been going on with the store.

Yet he couldn’t and it was his entire fault. He sighed as he took another drink. Maybe some friendships weren’t supposed to be outside the workplace and maybe Mr Lucas and his own was one of them.

Prompt: Enemies
Word Count: 297
Rating: PG
Summery: Friends fight and sometimes they take it too far

They glared at each other, once good friends now enemies. Everyone else was looking at them in shock. They weren’t supposed to be staring at each other like that and yet they where.

“Maybe you two should um… separate” Captain Peacock suggested and without moving a muscle they spoke as one.

“Butt out Peacock”

“I can’t believe you just said that to me” Mr Humphries said in a low angry voice. This was the first time anyone in the store had seen him angry and they weren’t sure they ever wanted to hear him angry again.

“What why don’t you just decide and get it over with” Mr Lucas retorted equally as angry, “personally I’m getting tired of it”

“Well why don’t you just leave if your getting so tired of it,” A wicked grin came over Mr Humphries face, “Dick” he said simply.

“What did you call me?” Mr Lucas asked angrily.

“You heard me. Unless you want me to repeat it for you because you’re so simple mind can’t take it.” Mr Lucas narrowed his eyes at him while Mr Humphries smirked; “Now if you excuse me I’m going back to work”

“There’s no excuse for you Wilberforce” He said with a small smirk.

“Mr Lucas you do not speak to your seniors in that way”

“Well you know what Peacock? If I have to work under him, I won’t. I quit!” Mr Humphries looked at Mr Lucas in shock as did the rest of the staff.

“But… you… can’t” Mr Humphries stuttered out surprised.

“I just did” Mr Lucas said coldly as he put down his tape measure on the counter and his chalk and stalked out of Grace Brothers leaving the rest of the members of the ladies and men’s department in shock.

Title: Ohana
Fandom: Are You Being Served?
Character: Captain Peacock
Prompt: Family
Word Count: 163
Rating: G
Summery: The staff where like a family
Authors Note: For those who don’t know Ohana Means family in Hawaiian (and if you go by the Lilo and Stitch saying: Ohana Means family and family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten)

He never forgot any of his family. Even after they left he never forgot any of them and by his family he meant the staff of Grace Brothers. Mr Grainger was the father of the group and although he would never tell her he felt Mrs Slocombe as the mother figure of the group.

Miss Brahms was like a sister to him, Mr Lucas and Mr Humphries where like brothers. They where his original family but he couldn’t forget the add-ons like Mr Tebbs, Mr Goldberg, Mr Spooner and everyone else that had gone through. They where his extended family and Grace Brothers was his home away from home. His place to escape.

Nobody could pull of the things that his family did and he loved each and everyone of them for it. He didn’t say it but he did. His family was his work and his work was his family. They where tied in together and he didn’t complain.

He never would.

Title: All things bright and beautiful
Fandom: Are You Being Served?
Characters: Mr Lucas
Rating: G
Prompt: Strangers
Word Count: 281
Summery: He wanted to keep his once friends as Strangers

He often wondered where they where? What they where doing at this precise time? A year ago he would have known, or suspected what they where doing. But now they where all strangers to him. Every single one of them.

He had heard along the grapevine that Mr Humphries and Mrs Slocombe where going to get married but he had no idea whether that was true or not. If it was then Mr Humphries wasn’t the person he thought he was.

Then from another friend he heard that Grace brothers had been robed recently and he had immediately thought about his friends and prayed that they where alright. But then realised he had no way of contacting them to find out.

He had ended up at the movie theatre one night and for a moment he thought he saw either Mr Humphries or his mother working there. He had ducked down. But at the end of the movie was the thing that had most surprised him. Well it was a tie but the advert had and also the whole of his old department jumping up to sing ‘All things bright and beautiful’ had as well.

He had known that the double meaning of the advert had to be false (for one thing he could NOT imagine Captain Peacock ‘on the piano’ and didn’t want to think about Mrs Slocombe’s breast. That was just wrong in oh so many ways.

However he didn’t stick around to ask he got out of that movie theatre as soon as he could. He didn’t want to talk to them. He just wanted to be able to wonder sometimes and keep his once friends as strangers.
