The evening had escalated into a battle of wills and one-upmanship, just like it had in years past. Ten years ago their evenings had been spent in buses, all nighters just to get to the next city, just to make their way in the entertainment world. In an effort to keep their sanity they'd spent all night playing board games and drinking games, sometimes their revelry truned very much x-rated and had served as quite an education for the youngest member of the group.

Monopoly had at some point in time turned into spin the bottle. Much blushing and embarassed laughter had ensued, but every date Nick had been on since then had been a success directly related to his early training, if you will. They'd taught him how to kiss, how to touch, where to touch and when not to touch.

It was no surprise to most of them that Nick always returned to his roots when things went sour with a girl. Many nights were spent consoling the shattered teen, and Nick knew that no matter who he dated, how good his current flame was, they'd never live up to what he'd already had. What he still wanted. For five long years now he'd waited, watching and anticipating the right time to make his move.

Ironically, it was Kevin's suggestion that they all pile onto his bus tonight. For old times' sake he'd said. Nick smiled and agreed, his heart racing and his palms damp. Would things be the same? Or were they too grown up, too much past the way things had been? Only one way to find out.

"Who's up for a game?" he asked with a grin.

A rousing chorus of "No!" "Not tonight," and "We're too fucking tired," ensued, but Nick held his ground.

"Come on, don't be pussies. If y'all are gonna be boring, I'll just go back to my own damn bus and get some sleep."

"I'll play."

Four pairs of eyes turned to Kevin, four pairs of eyebrows were raised at the slight smirk that the oldest tried to hide.

"Seriously?" Nick asked.

"Sure," Kevin shrugged. "I'm game. What're we playing?"

Nick wiped his hands on his jeans and met Kevin's eyes without flinching. "Truth or dare."

Kevin nodded, and the game was on. They spent an hour going from man to man, mostly settling on truths because after all, they had five years of confessions and dirt to spill to each other and no one felt like doing dares anyway. They really were too tired to do more than talk. The next round was about to begin when the driver's voice carried back to where they were.

Rest stop in ten miles, if anyone wants off or needs anything from their own bus, we're stopping.

"Thanks Dan," Kevin called out. "Who's next?" he asked, turning his eyes back to his friends.

"It's AJ's turn," Howie said.

"AJ? Go for it." Kevin smiled as he watched AJ think, and then AJ's eyes fell on Kevin, then Nick, and then back on Kevin.

"Truth or dare, Kev?"

Kevin laughed and chose 'dare' because they were stopping in a few minutes anyway and how much trouble could he be in with only a short time left?

"Kiss Nick."

All eyes snapped back to AJ.

"Excuse me?" Kevin narrowed his gaze at AJ and missed seeing Nick's mouth drop open in surprise, and he missed seeing Nick wipe his sweaty hands on his jeans again.

"You heard me. Come on dude, we're almost out of time." He somehow kept a straight face and prayed silently that Kevin wouldn't kill him as he slept tonight. Because really, he hadn't actually betrayed Kevin's confidence, had he? No. He'd just encouraged him along in something he knew he wanted. Desperately. Funny thing, he knew Nick wanted it too. It was wicked cool being the confidante of two of the most stubborn men in history.

Three miles, came the call from up front.

"Hurry it up Kev, unless you're giving up on the game," AJ taunted him, watching as the muscle in his jaw twtiched.

"Give up? I don't give up on anything, J."

Score, AJ crowed inwardly watching Kevin rise to his knees and make his way to where Nick was sitting. He elbowed Howie who shot him an irritated look, and Brian just rolled his eyes.

Nick was trembling by the time Kevin reached him, and his tongue darted out to moisten his lips right as Kevin's hand wrapped behind his neck to pull him closer. Their mouths met, and they never felt the bus stop, never heard the muttered comments of "It's about time" or "Took them long enough" or "See you tomorrow, I'm going back to my own bus."

Hours later they lay tangled together in Kevin's bed, sleepy and sated. In the dark they talked quietly of love and women and all the time they'd wasted.

"I wondered about some of those chicks you picked up," Kevin chuckled, licking a path up Nick's throat. "Damn, you taste good," he whispered, doing it again.

"Of course I have good taste. I picked you, didn't I?"

"That's not what I said."

"Semantics, Kev," he chuckled and then confessed. "I was going to tell you tonight anyway. AJ just made it easier."

Kevin began to set Nick straight, but then Nick's lips were covering his and a debate about semantics was the last thing on his mind.
