Yanagi Renji awoke early on Sunday morning, mostly because he was used to getting up at this hour. He rolled over in bed, expecting to find his girlfriend there, but he was alone. He frowned because even if they were in bed together during the week, Mizu would ignore his alarm and stay in bed until she had to get up to go to school.

Renji stretched out in bed, feeling rather lazy. He laid there staring at the ceiling before getting out of bed. Renji quickly made the bed, then headed to take a shower. It was as he was getting dressed that the scent of something familiar wafted upstairs to his nose. He smiled as he recognized the scent of fried pork products. Not many people in the house would get up that early just to fix breakfast.

"Renji?" Mizu called, looking for him. She knocked on the bathroom door, and poked her head in. Renji only had on a pair of shorts, his chest still bare. Mizu blushed a little, but smiled. "Come down and eat when you're ready, alright?"

Renji nodded, pulling on a shirt. "I'll there in a minute." He said, finishing up.

Mizu turned and headed back downstairs herself, yawning a bit. She smiled though. She rarely saw that much of Renji's skin, so that was worth walking in without waiting for an answer. She wasn't sure what she would have done if she had seen more than she had. Mizu was sitting down at the table when Renji came and joined her. He stared at all the food.

"Mizu? Who is going to eat all this?" Renji asked. There were several stacks of pancakes, link and patty sausage, bacon, and a lot of scrambled eggs.

Mizu blushed. "I did kind of go overboard." She admitted. "But your sister is home, and your parents might join us later, so I don't think I'd worry about it going to waste."

Renji shook his head as he filled his plate. "It's alright." He said, sitting down next to her.

"Whoa!" Kana said as she walked into the kitchen. "This is a lot of food."

"We've already established this, nee-san." Renji said, smiling a little. He looked at Mizu. "And who is going to clean up everything?"

Mizu smiled. "I cooked. I think it's only fair that a certain person in this room of the male persuasion at least help clean up." Kana giggled at that.

"I think I agree." Kana said, grinning at her little brother.

"I think I'm outnumbered." The girls laughed at that. Kana sat down with them.

"So where are Mom and Dad?" Kana asked. "They actually left you two alone in the house?" She raised an eyebrow.

Renji sighed. "Why does everyone assume that if Mizu and I are together alone we're going to..." He gave up. Mizu was blushing a bit.

"Just because we're sleeping together doesn't mean we're sleeping together." Mizu said quietly. She quickly took a bite of pancake and started chewing on it.

"Oh, and Mom and Dad went out. Perhaps to do those unspeakable things you're accusing us of doing." Renji said, smirking a little. Kana shuddered.

"Okay, I did not need that mental image." Kana said, shaking her head. Renji grinned.

"Payback." He said as the front door opened.

"We're home!" Tori called out to whoever was listening.

"Welcome home." The three children chorused. "Mizu fixed breakfast, and there's plenty left." Renji continued, figuring they might as well have a family meal.

Tori had headed straight for the kitchen. "I'm...very impressed." She said, grabbing a plate. Kenichi had followed his wife and was more or less speechless.

"Mizu-chan made all this?" Kenichi asked after he finally recovered from the shock of seeing so much food.

"Yes, I did." Mizu said quietly, finishing up her own food. She glanced over at Renji to see if he was finished before excusing herself. "Don't forget you're helping me clean up."

"How did she manage that?" Kenichi asked, looking at his son.

"Only because Kana is on her side." Renji said, picking up his dishes and heading to start helping clean up.

Mizu was running water to wash the dishes. Renji set his dishes to the side and pulled Mizu to him.

"That's not helping." Mizu said, smiling. Renji laughed.

"I know." He said, turning the water off before the sink flooded. "Have any plans for today?" He asked, getting to work on the pots and pans first.

"Not really." Mizu said, rinsing and drying the pans as Renji handed them to her. "Hikari-chan and Tsubaki-chan said something about perhaps going shopping and they invited me along." She said.

"You should go with them." Renji said, a plan forming in the back of his mind.

"You won't miss me too much?" Mizu grinned.

"With all my heart and soul." Renji grinned back at her, realizing how corny that sounded. "Seriously, we need time apart. And I may have a surprise for you this evening. So go out with your friends, alright? Oh, and I suppose I should let you in on part of the idea. It involves the beach." He snuck a kiss and continued with the dishes.

"I think I'm liking this idea." Mizu said. Then she stole a kiss. "I'll see you later then." With that she ran upstairs and left the rest of the dishes to Renji.

He stared at the sink and sighed. Kana patted her little brother on the back as she brought the rest of the dishes to the sink. "You really walked right into that one, Renji."

"I realized that about a second too late." He said, trudging on through the dishes.
