"I'm tired of this. I can't...I'm too angry to even think or look at you right now."

"What did I do?"

"Just leave, Sadaharu. It's for the best right now. Unless you'd like me to punch you in the face?"

Inui just nodded and slowly stalked out the apartment he had been sharing with his old friend Yanagi Renji. They had moved in together, thinking it would be mutually beneficial to them both. It certainly helped matters once they had finally gotten over their unresolved sexual tension.

However, neither were quite sure how they stood with the other.

The same thing had been happening over and over again. By the end of the week they'd both make up, groping and probably have another round of mutually satisfying sex.

A duffle bag hit Inui the back of the head. "You can come back when you're not so crazy."

Inui just picked up the bag and calmly walked away, personally thinking that Renji was the insane one in this relationship. Inui sighed, and headed for one of the few places that would take him in when him and Renji had issues. He pulled out his cell phone and punched in a familiar number and waited for an answer.

"Tezuka?" He asked once the phone had been answered. "We had another fight." The phone on the other end clicked and there was nothing but silence on the line. "Guess I won't be going there again." Inui slumped against the wall, wondering exactly where he could go. Inui jumped as he heard something thump against the wall. "Guess he really is mad." He muttered and started walking.

Renji was not happy. However, he knew it wasn't entirely either of their faults. They really needed to sit down and talk. What were they? Roommates? Yes. Lovers? Occasionally. They'd been together for so long first as friends, and now this. It wasn't as if either of them wanted a long term relationship. Renji blinked. Maybe Sadaharu did? He didn't think he could handle that right now. A few stolen kisses and an occasional blow job wasn't exactly something to base a long, deep relationship on.

Renji flopped himself onto his bed, confused, hurt and wondering why the hell him and Sadaharu just couldn't communicate like normal people.

Three days later Sadaharu returned. Renji wasn't sure why he had let him in. He was still angry. Not as much as when he had kicked Inui out, but he was still some what upset.

Inui was flipping through channels on the television. Renji sat to the side and glared at him some. "Stop that, Sadaharu." He said quietly.

Inui stopped on the next channel which was showing Sailor Moon re-runs. "Which of the senshi would you want to date?"

"Sadaharu, I know you, and you're only asking that to make me jealous. It's not going to work."

"I was just curious." Inui grinned. "It would have been good data."

Renji stood up, heading for the kitchen. "I'm not really into girls right now." He said quietly, pulling out a bottle of water. He went back to stand between the two rooms.

Inui looked up at his friend, and just then knew he had been wrong. He just didn't know what to say. Inui got up and went to his own room. An 'I'm sorry' didn't seem like it was enough.

Renji just drank the rest of the bottle, turned off the TV and went to bed as well.

It was those nights when Renji had that hungry look in his eyes that made Inui nervous. Of course, when he had been tackled and pinned to the floor being kissed senseless and certain parts of their bodies demanded the attention, Inui would rarely refuse.

It was in the haze of aftermath when they both realized that they were supposed to be fighting. Renji started laughing. "What was I thinking?" He asked quietly, his head pillowed on Sadaharu's shoulder.

"We're good again?" Inui asked, his fingers lacing with Renji's. His answer was firm squeeze of his hand.

"Sadaharu?"

Inui lazily turned his head to look at his friend and lover. Renji's features were a bit blurry as Inui's glasses had been tossed aside. "What is it?"

"What do you want from this?" Renji asked. Inui froze.

"I...do not know."

Renji stood up, pulled his pants back on and headed into his room, slamming the door behind him. Inui just laid on the floor, staring after him.

They avoided each other as much as possible during the next week, trying to go on with their lives much as they had. Their lives seemed to be inexorably entwined, as though the gods wanted them to be together when neither wanted the other in the same room.

This had to end. And it would this night.

Inui was lying on the couch watching the Friday night monster flick. Renji took a deep breath and quietly approached him, lying down on top of his friend. "I'm sorry." He said quietly.

Inui turned his head. Then started laughing. Renji frowned. "I'm being serious here, Sadaharu!" Renji kicked Inui then got up and stormed off. Inui just kept laughing.

"There was a 99% chance you'd do that."

It was a few days before Renji cooled off enough to even attempt to look at Inui. And in his mind, he honestly forgave him. It was just so frustrating that they couldn't decide on what they were to each other any more. And nothing Renji did was relieving that frustration. He was still feeling it after he had masturbated in the shower, whimpering the only name that meant something to him as his seed washed down the drain.

"I would have gladly blown you." Inui said, having heard some of the sounds from the bathroom.

Renji just smiled at him and proceeded to keep ignoring him.

"Do you want me to move out?" Inui finally asked. "I don't think we can keep going on like this."

"I agree with that last part, Sadaharu. We can't keep going on like this." Renji agreed. "I don't want you gone though." He said quietly.

"Then...what should I do?"

"Perhaps we should apologize? I know I've certainly been rather foolish and you've done more than your share of foolish things as well."

Inui nodded. "I agree. I have been a fool and I'm sorry for all the grief I've caused you. Can you forgive me?"

Renji laughed a little. "Of course I can. I forgave you a long time ago, Sadaharu. I'm sorry too. Just forgive for whatever I've done?"

Inui nodded and pulled Renji to him. "Of course. I'm more to blame than you are though. I've just been...scared. I don't think I wanted to admit that this feeling was growing into something out of control. I just thought we were...you know...out of mutual need."

Renji smiled a little. "It was, but I think there's more there than just that. Can you admit it now, Sadaharu?"

"I can." Inui said, kissing Renji. "I love you, Renji." He whispered as he pulled back and rested his forehead on Renji's shoulder. "I really have been an idiot, haven't I?"

Renji smiled. "You have been. I love you anyway. I'm just glad you finally realized it yourself. If I had to kick you out again..." He trailed off. Inui laughed.

"I deserved it." He said.

"I just hope you weren't out buying booze and cheap hookers."

"Well, there was that night when there were some travestites offered 100 yen blow jobs..." Inui said. Renji just gave Inui a look. "I wasn't interested. Not when all I need has always been right under my nose."
