It was early evening, around the time the sun sets and it's just starting to get dark that found a lone figure on the tennis courts of Rikkaidai Junior High. That lone figure wasn't a current student, but he definitely wasn't a stranger.
Yanagi Renji watched for a few moments. Something was familiar about this, yet he couldn't quite place it as he made his way to the court about to yell at whoever it was to go home already.
The other person paid no attention to his watcher, smashing the ball at the wall, and letting it bounce past him. Renji picked it up and walked up to him.
"You're certainly the last person I expected to be here." He said quietly.
"It brings back memories." Yukimura Seiichi said, looking almost exhausted.
"You technically realize you're trespassing?" Renji asked, looking a bit amused. Yukimura just laughed. "They're not ours anymore."
"Play a game against me?" Renji just nodded, getting his racquet out.
It had been years since they had played against the other, though it was obvious that Yukimura still had the skills and talent. It wasn't a very long game, and Renji knew something was wrong when he had won the game. He was a bit more shocked when he heard people cheering for him. Yukimura smiled.
"I knew it was going to happen one of these days." He said softly, looking over at the cheering squad. Their families had apparently came looking for them.
"What happened, Seiichi?" Renji asked quietly.
"Life happened, Renji." He answered simply as their kids came running up to them.
"Do you regret anything?"
Yukimura looked at his son, and then back at Renji and smiled. "Not a thing." He said. "It really is time to give up the past. It's their turn."
