Renji laid on the bleachers surrounding the tennis courts at school. He was physically exhausted from practice, and just mentally exhausted in general. No one would be able to tell if he was asleep or not, and frankly he hoped they would think he was asleep.

He felt it when Yukimura and Sanada walked past him, Sanada considered asking Renji to join them on their way home, but Renji was feeling too tired to move yet.

Kirihara poked Renji with his racket as he walked by, making sure his sempai wasn't dead. Marui snapped his gum, and Jackal reprimanded Akaya for poking their data master.

Yagyuu was the next one to walk past Renji. He paused beside him. "Yanagi-kun?" He asked. Renji didn't answer him. It was too much effort to move his mouth.

Renji finally thought he was alone, even though he hadn't heard, seen or felt Niou walk past him, but Niou was sneaky like that.

"So how many laps did you run?" Niou drawled, startling Renji out of his rest. Renji opened one eye, and stared.

"I thought you would have left by now." Renji answered him.

"More amused watching you." Niou said, smiling a little. "It's not often you disagree with buchou."

Renji just stayed silent at that. Niou sat down beside Renji's head, petting his hair like he was a dog.

"Niou…" Renji said, kind of enjoying it.

"I think you're right." Niou said quietly. "I bet you feel like jelly, don't you?"

"I've recovered enough that I could go home. I just don't want to yet." Renji said, relaxing a little. Niou looked down at him curiously. "I'm trying to avoid nee-san." Niou laughed.

"Join the ranks of tortured little brothers." Niou pushed Renji up to a sitting position. Renji didn't protest at all. "Come on, let's get out of here." He said, pulling Renji up with him.

"Where are we going?" Renji asked, dried sweat sticking to him, and holding his tennis uniform close to his skin.

"Who cares, as long as it's not here." Niou said, pulling Renji along with him.

"Do you remember when we met back when we were first years and before we joined the tennis club?" Renji asked.

Niou snickered a little. "Of course. That prank was totally worth it."

Renji smiled. "It was pretty stupid, actually."

"Yeah, but you didn't see what happened to one of the oranges." Niou grinned. "It met a rather messy fate."

Renji cocked an eyebrow at him. "I'm sure it did." He said, shaking his head. "Anyway, the point I was trying to make is that I still don't trust you."

Niou laughed. "I don't think anyone does."

"Don't you think it would make sense for that to change? And you can't say that no one does, or you wouldn't be playing doubles at all."

Niou laughed. "If I didn't, would I play at all?" He asked.

"I suppose you have a point." Renji said as they turned a corner. Niou led the two of them into an arcade.

Renji was rather surprised, as he rarely frequented places like this. He preferred the quiet of libraries. Niou led him to one of the shooting games. "How's your aim?" He smirked at Renji as he dropped his coins in.

Renji raised an eyebrow, and took up the second player's side. "I think it's probably better than you think." He said,

After shooting a bunch of zombies that were attacking their player characters, Niou laughed as Renji dropped out before him. "You suck at this, Yanagi."

Renji just laughed. "You know I'm not one to hang out in places like this.." He said, watching as Niou shot a few more zombies. The zombies finally got the better of him. Renji checked his watch. "I think it's safe to head home." He said, turning to head out.

"Hey, Orange!" Niou called after him. Renji visibly tensed at that, but turned around anyway. "More people trust me than you think - including you."

Renji smiled. "Of course.." He said softly. "I may have to play doubles with you at some point."
