Yanagi Renji laid on his bed, idly flipping through a magazine, trying to find something interesting to read in it..

"Nothing interesting?" His girlfriend asked.

""Ah, not really." Renji replied, setting the magazine down. "How's the homework going, Mizu?" He asked.

"Slowly." Mizu replied, feeling a bit frustrated. She looked over at Renji. "And you probably had all these problems done in five seconds and in your head."

Renji laughed at that. "Perhaps so, but you won't learn anything if I tell you the answers, you know." He smiled, and patted the bed beside him. "Take a break from it." He suggested. Mizu sighed a little, giving the algebra textbook one last glare before going over and lying down with her boyfriend. Renji wrapped his arm around her, nuzzling her neck.

"You know the rules." Mizu reminded him, teasing him a bit.

"Ah." Renji said, backing off a bit. "You know, I've wondered something since I first met you."

Mizu turned to face him inquiringly. "What's that?"

"Why do you have a common noun for a name?" Renji finally asked. "It seems odd, yet it also fits you in a way."

Mizu giggled a little. "Honestly, I don't know. I think at some point I actually had a -ko ending on it, but, well, it seems to have dropped, considering most of my friends tend to call me Mizu-chan. That, and I've gotten lazy and just write the one kanji."

Renji laughed at that. "It still suits you. I can't go past anything related to water and not think of you." Mizu blushed at that. "It's true."

"You flatter me too much, Renji."

"I think I don't do it enough." He replied, kissing her softly.

"You two are sooo married." A voice said affectionately from the doorway. Mizu blushed a bit. "So when is the wedding?"

Renji looked up at his sister. "Next year." He said, in all seriousness. Kana smiled.

Mizu turned at looked at Renji. "Really?" She way beyond red.

Renji smiled. "Why not? Didn't I propose last year? And we're still together. I think we can make it last forever."

Kana rolled her eyes. "You're such a sweet talker there, Renji."

Mizu laughed a little. "He's my sweet talker though." She said, smiling. "I'm glad though. You guys have been nothing but kind to me these past couple of years. And though we've had our share of embarrassing moments, I'm happy to be with someone I care so deeply about."

Kana chuckled. "You two are definitely made for each other. It kind of makes me sad that my little brother will be married before I am."

"Ah, what are you doing home, anyway?" Renji asked, curious.

"I came to get some things I found I need." She said

"You've been out of the house for two, three years, and you're still needing things?" Renji said skeptically.

Kana laughed. "What can I say, I'm scatterbrained." She said as she headed over to her old room.

"You're giving the rest of the family a bad name." Renji muttered.

Kana chose to ignore that comment. "Oh, guess who I saw earlier today."

Renji stretched out and got up, following his sister out of idle curiosity "Do I want to know?"

"I'd think you would." Kana replied. "Sadaharu-kun."

Renji raised an eyebrow. "Really?" He said, as Mizu joined them, wrapping her arms around Renji's waist.

Kana nodded her head, sorting through some stuff. "He surprised me too. He actually knocked out one of the perverts on the train." Renji's eyes widened at that. "Apparently he's taken up judo or something."

Renji just shook his head. "I can't say I'm all that surprised, but…It does seem odd for him."

Kana shrugged, finishing up her errand. "Oh, it turns out he's going to the same university as I am."

"I doubt you'll be crossing paths all that much." Renji said, smiling. "But that's interesting to know."

"He's the one with the dorky glasses, right?" Mizu asked. Renji chuckled.

"Actually, it looks like he's gotten a bit of a makeover recently. He actually looks rather…handsome." Kana said.

Renji shook his head, but had an idea of what his old friend was thinking. Renji always knew what he was thinking.

"Anyway, say hi to mom and dad for me." Kana said, getting ready to leave.

"At least you don't waste your time. And I'll do that. Though mother will be disappointed you didn't stay."

"Well, I'm in a bit of a hurry." Kana said, brushing her hair back. "See you!"

"That is probably the most disorganized I've ever seen Kana-san…" Mizu said, tilting her head in confusion.

"I think being out on her own is getting to her." Renji said, smiling after his sister.

"You know, I got back to thinking about what you asked me earlier - about my name." Mizu said, changing the topic. "Water is one of the four elements, right?" Renji nodded in answer. "And it tends to flow around obstacles, right? I seem to be doing that rather well. I'm a "go with the flow" kind of person."

Renji turned around, and smiled down at her. "Yes, you do seem to be that way. One of many things I like about you." Renji chuckled a little, hugging her. "After all, plants need water to live, right?"
