“This place must have been abandoned a long time ago.” Myka said, looking over some of the dust-covered shelves. They were mostly empty, but some were littered with machinery and trinkets. Artie had mentioned the artifact was most likely in a box of some sort. Nothing she saw there was boxed up, strangely. She stepped closer to the shelf, examining what appeared to be a small bag of candy. She reached out, grabbing it gingerly and lifting for a moment before dropping it. She then looked at her fingers, made a disgusted face, and wiped the dust off of them.

“Can we say creep-o-rama?” Pete asked slowly, sweeping over the old place with a flashlight and his Tesla. The place appeared to be very old; the perfect place for an Artifact, he thought. The agent aimed the flashlight high, examining the ceiling and the tall shelves around him. He then jumped at a sudden noise from behind, turning with his Tesla aimed. He then sighed, relieved to see that it was just Myka. The woman turned almost as quickly as Pete had, then shielded her eyes with her arm. “Don’t do that!” Pete called, trying his best to keep quiet.

“Hey, Pete. Come look at this!” Myka called from the other side of the room. Pete quickly made his way over, dodging a few things piled up in the floor. When he reached his partner he immediately saw what she had wanted to show him. On the shelf, there was a square place about as big as his hand with absolutely no dust on it. “Looks like this place hasn’t been totally abandoned.” Pete said knowingly. Myka nodded. “I’m guessing that whatever was here was the Artifact and someone already grabbed it.” Pete nodded in agreement and looked around slowly.

Shining his flashlight around the rest of the room, Pete looked everything over again. Just the same rusty shelves piled with useless junk-what’s this? Something reflective caught his eye in the corner near them. It was a plain yet shiny, metal doorknob, nothing special. However looking at the doorknob gave Pete this strong feeling about the door itself. He glanced back to Myka, who seemed to still be looking at the shelf, before heading for the door. Taking hold of the doorknob, he noticed that the door wasn’t locked, or even closed as he just pulled it right open.

Title: Empty

Entering the room, Pete had to immediately shield his eyes, for the first thing he saw was pure white light. He slowly brought his arm down, his eyes quickly adjusting. The white light seemed to come from his own flashlight shining on multiple papers strewn all over the black-tiled floor. He then looked around the room, spitting a large metal desk, covered with more paper. He crossed the room carefully and slowly took one of the papers from the desk. To his surprise, it was blank. He looked over the rest of the desk. All the papers were completely blank.

Table is here.
