It was bright and shiny, with soft, rounded edges and a sleek, clean look. It was also bright metallic purple.

"Damn." Harry stared without comprehension at the offering the mystery box had yielded. "And you didn't see who left it?"

"I am afraid not," replied Bob as he inspected the object with interest. "Even had there been a knock upon the door - which there was not -- I am not exactly in a position to answer it."

"Good point." Harry picked up the cardboard box and turned it upside-down. The remaining packing materials fell onto the floor but no note or missive followed. "Damn," he said again and scowled at the box. "I can't accept this."

"What, precisely, is 'this'? Other than a rather garish shade of lavender."

"It's an Apple. And it's not lavender; it's purple."

"Amusing," said Bob tersely, favoring Harry with a withering don't-humoring-me look. "But seriously. What is it? One of those moving image viewing boxes?"

"I told you. It's an Apple," said Harry, distracted. Apparently, his mysterious benefactor was unaware of the disastrous effect wizards tended to have on modern technology. Computers, for instance.

"Very well. Since you insist. It is an apple. And I am the Queen Mary."

"Yeah, but - huh?" Harry turned in time to see the old ghost vanish in a fit of pique. "Bob, wait! I didn't mean liter-"

SNAP! BANG!

The computer's shiny monitor exploded in a shower of sparks and burning circuitry.

"Hells Bells," grumbled Harry, wondering which fire to put out first.
