It took Miles an hour to move into Roger's flat. It took him an hour to get naked and be pinned underneath's Roger's lithe body as they had celebratory sex - what they were celebrating was anybody's guess. It took an hour for them to cook and eat their first dinner together. Alicia would be surprised to discover that the arrangement they previously had was strictly sexual, but now Roger had to be open to the change in circumstance. He wasn't going to allow Miles to live on the street, especially when he didn't have anyone else help in on such a short notice. It took an hour for Miles to finally fall asleep in his new home that evening.

The joy wouldn't last. Tempers flared, feelings were hurt, words were misunderstood and fists started flying. Miles always knew he was aggressive and Roger had a way of bringing the worst out of him. He had never noticed this before. Before they lived together Miles confused aggression for passion and would use the adrenaline coursing through his body to penetrate Roger with such force he nearly climaxed too soon. Miles wasn't surprised to find Roger on the couch one day, waiting for him to come home from work.

"We need to talk," Roger stated simply.

"About?"

"This isn't working. Have you thought about moving back in with Alicia?"

"Why would I move back in with her? I hate her."

"No, you don't. You love her. You've just been using me to forget the pain of losing her but you feel it. You have to feel it. Nothing you do is going to make those feelings good away overnight."

"Everything takes time."

"Yes, but I don't have enough money to repair or replace all the things we've broken in this flat. What we had was just a fling, sexual in nature. Isn't it obvious we don't work well together?"

A few hours later Miles was at Alicia's door. It took an hour for him to convince her to give him another chance. It took him an hour to make promises he knew he could keep. The affair would end, the pain would fade and memories would eventually be locked away, but Alicia knew she loved him. Her mind told her she was stupid for giving him another chance, but she knew time heals.
