Summary: Alicia's close calls come to an end when she bumps into Miles post Hogwarts.

Alicia had many close calls in her life. She almost died when she was ten due to a bad case of spattergroit. It was hard to shake the disease, but with some treatment she improved and eventually got rid of the illness. The next close call happened when she was trying out for the Gryffindor Quidditch team in her second year. She didn't put her best foot forward, but through some miracle managed to become one of the team's chasers. When she pulled aside the team captain at the time to ask for an explanation he replied, "You have potential. It's obvious you were nervous and didn't put on your best performance. I just know you have more." She accepted the position, not questioning it further but instead deciding to prove him right.
There was no question that luck was on her side. Alicia didn't deny it and she cherished all those close calls because they made her who she was. Then she met Miles.
Vicious words were exchanged on more than one occasion. They tried to take each other out every Quidditch match they played against each other. Graduation came and went causing them to go their separate ways for a time. Then they bumped into each other at the Quidditch World Cup and were surprisingly cordial. They discussed their lives after Hogwarts, their love for the Falmouth Falcons and the memories they had of their previous encounters.
"Why did we hate each other so much?" Alicia asked him.
"I have no idea. I don't think we had a good reason. We just went along with the house rivalry happening between our houses. That makes the most sense to me," he replied.
As the evening was winding down and the previous rivals were parting ways, Alicia couldn't help but notice how handsome Miles had become over the years. She wasn't going to let this opportunity pass her by without doing something. She asked him out and when he accepted, she kissed him. She smiled knowing this was the end of the close calls.
