Alicia's plan was simple. She would leave when Miles went to work. She didn't care if he didn't actually go to work. All that mattered was that he was gone for a few hours. It would give her time to pack and leave. She contemplated leaving him a note, but that wouldn't change anything. It wouldn't make anything better. All it would do is give him false hope. She wanted to make it clear that she wasn't coming back. She wanted to let him know she was disappointed in him without letting him know she was onto him about his Death Eater activities.
It took about thirty minutes to pack up her belongings. She had called Angelina and Katie to come over to help her move her stuff out of the place she shared with Miles. Angelina drove her car to Alicia's place and the three young women loaded things into it one by one until the car was all packed up. As Alicia was closing the apartment door behind her and locking it, Miles came out of nowhere. He was stunned and slightly speechless at the sight before him. He didn't know what was happening, but it was pretty obvious she was leaving him. The bags said it all.
"Where are you going?"
"I can't tell you. I can't do this anymore. I'm tired of the lies."
Miles grabbed her by the arm and pleaded, "Please, let's talk about this. We can work it out. All I know is that what I did was wrong. Give me a chance, that's all I'm asking of you."
"I've given you many chances. I'm done. You can't say or do anything to change my mind. All I can say is that I hope you have a good life. I love you, but I can't keep living like this."
Alicia left. There was no nuance to her explanation. It was direct. Miles couldn't argue, which frustrated him. He had to move his plans along because Alicia had just thrown a wrench into his plans. He wasn't going to let her get away from him that easily.
