Alicia wasn't in a social mood but she knew this fundraiser was important to the Ministry. She wore her favorite silk dress. It was pretty expensive, but she didn't care. She needed to make an impression. She hoped a raise would occur after this event, but if that didn't happen, that was okay with her. What mattered a little more than that raise was getting her name out there. She wanted to be noticed by her boss for not just doing her job well as the Junior Assistant to the Minister for Magic, but also for being invested in the restructuring and refocusing of the Ministry back towards diversity, inclusion and acceptance.

As the night continued to unfold Alicia noticed that all the guests were having a good time. People were laughing to her left, dancing in front of her, enjoying some snacks behind her and engaging in deep conversations to her right. She felt proud of herself and wanted this feeling to last.

"May I have this dance?"

She turned towards the source of the voice and nodded. She grabbed Miles' extended hand and allowed him to lead her to the dance floor, which only took a few steps.

"I didn't think you were going to make it tonight."

"Are you kidding? I wasn't going to miss your big event. Besides I needed to see what you were wearing for this event. You were right. I'm not disappointed for coming. You look beautiful in that royal blue dress."

"Thanks," she replied. She tried to stop herself from blushing, but it was impossible. The look in Miles' eyes told her how much he loved her. He was a man of few words. She liked that. He was admiring her. He wasn't asking her a million questions about her outfit, her make up, the effort it took to put this night together. All he did was look at her like she was the most beautiful woman in the world and it made her day.
