Miles liked the fire in Alicia's eyes. It was one of the first things he fell in love with. Miles liked the way Alicia put him in his place because it meant she wasn't afraid to speak her mind or disagree with him. He didn't like it when girls tried to please him by agreeing with everything he said. Yes, Slytherin girls liked to placate the guys they dated, but they couldn't be messed with when it came to other things like loyalty and getting rid of evidence if necessary. He overheard quite a few interesting conversations over the years, but he didn't want to know more than was necessary. He reminded himself that it was better to know less than more.
Alicia made the first move, which didn't surprise him. She was brave and fearless. She had to be to be sorted into Gryffindor. He asked they keep things between them and she was going to fight with him about it because she saw nothing wrong with people knowing, but decided against it. She thought about what he said and after making him wait a few days for her answer she finally said, "It makes sense. We don't want anyone asking questions."
There was no doubt regarding what they were doing when they exited broom closets. Miles tried to make it less obvious he was staring at her during Potions class, but Adrian caught on quickly. He noticed the way Miles' stares lingered on Alicia a little longer than normal. He noticed the way Alicia flipped her hair - a clear sign of flirting. Adrian was a pro at spotting such signs.
"Is there something going on between you two?" Adrian asked Miles one day.
Miles denied it as per his agreement with Alicia, but they were caught in the act one day. Adrian wasn't stunned to catch them mid rendezvous, but Alicia was and made it a point to threatened Adrian, which made him smile.
"I approve," was all he said before departing, leaving to their own devices again.
