Love is a powerful emotion. It can drive the calmest people to insanity and tame the wildest individuals. It isn't experienced by everyone the same way and for this reason Alicia didn't see it coming when she experienced it for the first time. It wasn't a solid, overwhelming flow of emotions like others claimed. It was a subtle crush and it was had on Oliver Wood. She mustered up the courage to ask him out and he accepted, flattered by the attention he was receiving. He thought highly of Alicia, but by the end of the date it became obvious they weren't a great match. On the pitch it was seamless, but off it they weren't working.
Yet she knew this wasn't completely love. Perhaps it was an infatuation.
A few months later she asked out Roger Davies and the date ended the same. It was very discouraging. She didn't know what to make of it. Roger fulfilled her intellectually, but the spark she had with Oliver was missing. Who could she be with that would provide her with the intellectual stimulation she needed and yet be spit fire alongside her? No one came to mind so she watched as her friends find guys who could keep up with them.
What she felt for Roger was definitely not love. It wasn't as powerful as infatuation, so maybe lust?
Then she started arguing with Miles regularly. At first it was about Quidditch then they had to serve detention together. It wasn't a pleasant experience, but she quickly learned that he had potential. She didn't ask him out. Instead she made it a point to make him unable to resist her. It didn't seem to be working at first until one day he pulled her into a broom closet and they started to make out ferociously. There were no words. He left as quickly as he had pulled her in and didn't say a word. It became a weekly routine - one she didn't mind having.
