Previous Part:
here A week after the Miles incident, she decided to visit him at his home. She figured he would’ve recovered somewhat by that time and that Adrian wouldn’t be hovering over him as frequently as before. She was still feeling really indignant about his treatment of her and would give him a piece of her mind when she got a chance. She pushed these thoughts inside as she knocked on Miles’ apartment door.
“What do you want Spinnet?”
“I just wanted to see how you were doing.”
“Whatever you saw last week was a fluke. I wasn’t feeling well, but I’m better now. I don’t even know why you bothered to come see me. It wasn’t necessary and I’d really appreciate it if you never visit me again, no matter what your motives are.”
Alicia couldn’t believe what she was hearing. She turned her back on Miles and started walking away before he could further rant. She felt foolish and didn’t fully understand what ha d possessed her to seek him out in the first place. As Miles watched Alicia’s retreating figure, he sighed loudly and was soon joined by Adrian. Adrian patted Miles’ shoulder gently.
“It’s all for the best.”
“I don’t know Adrian. I don’t think sending her away was the best way to win her heart.”
“Don’t you trust me Miles? I know women and trust me this will work.”
Miles shook his head, not knowing what to say. He knew he wanted to talk to Alicia; that had been the reason he showed up at the pitch she had been practicing at. He wanted to strike up a conversation, but that had fallen apart when he fell off his broom. Now Adrian was trying to give him advice, but he couldn’t see how it would work out in the end. For today he would listen, but if it didn’t work out he just might ignore Adrian and do things his way. That always worked for him in the past.
