Author's Note: AU storyline set during DH. The idea that made this story possible is that of Slytherins with connections to Death Eaters being allowed to come and go from school as they please, in the same way they visit Hogsmeade every now and then.

A week had passed by and Daphne did her best to be nicer to Dean. It had been difficult, not because Daphne didn't know how to be nice, but because she felt that every minute that Dean didn't give her the information she sought was another minute wasted on not finding Pansy. One night Daphne couldn’t sleep so she wandered to the kitchen to get a glass of water. That's when she heard the soft crackling of fire. She peaked into her living room and saw Dean sitting in front of her fireplace. Then she noticed a head in the fireplace, speaking in a hushed tone. She struggled to see the person clearly at first, but once she did she realized she didn't know this person. The girl looked familiar though and the fact Daphne couldn't place her bothered her.

“Your family is worried about you. You should visit.”

“Did you tell them I was fine? That you’ve spoken to me? I cannot visit them right now, but I will soon.”

“Tell Daphne what she wants to know. She’ll hate you for it, but at least she’ll know the truth.”

“It’s not that easy Parvati. Pansy doesn’t want to be found by the people that are looking for her. That’s why she trusted me with this information and if I tell Daphne she’s going to run off to tell Pansy’s father. Then our plans are going to fall apart and the Death Eater will take over.”

“They’re already taking over. How is this piece of information going to change that?”

Dean sighed and said, "The plan is complicated. Pansy is doing work for the Order of the Phoenix-unofficially, of course. I don’t think they would trust her enough to allow her to do actual work."

Daphne couldn’t contain herself. She was outraged by what Dean was suggesting. Pansy had never mentioned any of this to her and she considered Pansy her best friend. She knew that Pansy had biased opinions regarding the war and Death Eaters, but she never imagined things changing so rapidly. What happened to Pansy that caused this change in her? What was she missing? Daphne opened her mouth to say something, but decided against it. What could she say anyways? There were no words to describe how lost she was feeling. She didn’t want Dean to get angry at her for eavesdropping. He’d use this situation as an example of invasion of privacy and legitimately so, but Daphne wasn’t about to admit that.
