Now I'm a sucker for the movie 'Panic room' but what ive noticed is that a lot of the caps are very very very dark and usualy the icons i try to make are craptastic! So! I thought id show you nifty way of ligtening them :)

go from this to

Using PS CS2, using curves



Step 1

First duplicate your base 4 times (depends on your cap) and set them all to sceen at 100%

step 2

Desaturate the fourth base

Step 3

Make a new brightness/contrast layer and have the settings:

Brightness: +51
Contrast: +32

Step 4

Make a new Hue/Saturation layer and have the settings:

Master//Saturation: +39

Step 5

Make a curves layer and have the settings at:

RGB: Point one- I: 47 O: 76
Point two- I:123 O: 154

Red: Point One- I: 67 O: 62
Point two- I: 188 O: 199

Green: I: 131 O: 120

Blue: Point one- I: 128 O: 126
Point two: I: 162 O: 174

and thats it! Now this wont work with all caps, it seems to work best with Panic room caps so you may have to fiddle with the settings
