New Beginnings: Chapter 3
“I know what Ueda did. Don’t mind him. I like you.” Kato suddenly said.
He does? I look at him with wide, questioning eyes.
“Eh?” Smooth, Ryo. Now he will think you’re weak.
He smiles wider this time and leans down to kiss me on the lips. As the kiss gets deeper, he suddenly pulls away and touches my forehead.
“You have a fever.” He says.
I touch my forehead and yes, I do have a fever. Kato kissed me! He’ll be infected too. I look at him in panic.
“Don’t worry, I’ll take care of you. I should ask Tegoshi to stay at Massu’s room tonight.” He told me and I feel at ease.
“Arigatou.” I tell him softly since my throat hurts like hell.
“Go back to sleep. I’ll wake you up when it’s time to drink your medicine.” He tells me and I immediately drift off to sleep.

I wake up again a few hours later and find Kato asleep next to me, the door locked and me locked in his arms. This feels nice, being with him like this, just the two of us. I suddenly remember Ueda’s words.
“I declare him mine. Understood?”
I immediately tense up. I feel Kato waking up and tightening his arms around me.
“Nishikido, if you’re being tense because of what Ueda said, stop it. You have nothing to worry about. I don’t care what people think and I most definitely don’t care if he declares me his because you are the one I like and declarations like that are useless and childish.”
I feel his breath at the back of my neck and I relax into his warmth. We stay like this for hours, just lying silently. No words are exchanged but it feels like simply lying there, I know him more. It feels like we have talked for hours and not mere minutes. What is this feeling?
