drabble!
yay. dedicated to the dorkiest member of kat-tun, JUNNO!

Author: Me
Genre: nothing? not romance. friendship?

"CHECK IT OUT~~~" Junno flashed his trademark mega-watt smile at the camera and braced himself for the kick... which hit him in full force a second later.

Koki had been spontaneous and invented some fancy Bruce Lee style kick today. Despite the ache in Junno's shin which still hurt from the flying kick in the previous episode, he felt a sense of satisfaction when the studio audience roared in laughter. It made him feel that he had a purpose for being in Cartoon KAT-TUN, that his presence on this show had an effect, no matter how small. He didn't have killer looks or any special talent. All he had was his dorkiness which seemed to piss his band members off.

The guest on the show made his appearance and they all took their places on the couch; Junno took his on the extreme end, as usual. The rest of the filming passed in a blur as the rest of the guys joked with the guest. Junno merely added in a dumb comment or a lame joke occasionally and smiled when it was called for.

"Alright! Cut! Good job, everybody." The director's voice rang out, signaling the end of filming.

"Good job! " KAT-TUN muttered to the staff as they relaxed and stretched.

"Let's go get sushi for dinner!" Jin suggested as they gathered up their stuff and got ready to leave. The other band members declared their approval and started competing on who was hungrier.

After much bickering, they arrived at a newly opened sushi bar and the waitress promptly blushed, giggled and tripped over her own feet as she showed them to a table.

Junno dug into his sushi as his band members launched into a discussion about something he knew nothing about. He decided that now wasn't a good time to add in a dumb comment or lame joke. Not having anything to contribute to the conversation, he concentrated on his food as he wondered why he had come along in the first place. Was it out of obligation, simply because he was part of KAT-TUN? Besides anime, he had no other interests in common with them. Perhaps KAT-TUN had one T too many. He was the extra one. The one who didn't belong. The one who was always alone even in the presence of others. The one who was always taken for granted. He had tried his best to connect with them. Why was it turning out this way? He was always taking so much shit (not to mention kicks) from people who probably didn't give a shit about him.

He had finished his food. The other members were still talking about whatever they were talking about.

"Um, I'm done. I gotta meet somebody. Ja ne. I'll foot the bill on my way out. " He muttered an excuse as he grabbed his bag. He wasn't too enthusiastic about sitting there dumbly and being the outsider.

"Hey. You okay? You've been pretty distant lately. " Nakamaru placed a hand on his shoulder, looking concerned. For some inexplicable reason, Junno felt himself getting choked up. There was so much he had kept bottled up.

"I'm just tired. That's all." Junno forced a smile.

He exhaled heavily as he left the sushi bar. How would things have turned out if he had spilled out everything he had wanted to say? Would it have made things so much more awkward?

"CHECK IT OUT~~~" Junno flashed his trademark mega-watt smile once again and braced himself for the kick... which never came. He turned around in surprise. This wasn't part of the script. Koki averted his eyes and stuffed his hands into his pockets.

"I'm only letting you off cause' my idol's guesting today..." He said defensively as Junno gave him the moved-to-tears expression, but the half smile on his face gave it all away. "... and maybe because it's your birthday today!"

A ginormous cake adorned with the words "Happy Birthday to JUNNO!!!" was brought out, complete with a cute miniature version of him made of icing, blond hair and all.

He felt a surge of warmth in his heart. He had thought that his birthday would come and go, without anyone caring or bothering to celebrate it. But his band members had proved him wrong.

A tear rolled down his cheek. He quickly wiped it away but another one escaped. He finally felt like he belonged.
