This is probably the best finale the show has pulled off in it's 5 year run- even with the slight glitch at the end. (Anyone who's been watching knows Kripke wanted it to end with this episode. It's what the show's been building to, and this was the end of the arch. Right at the end you could tell where part of it had been, admittedly masterfully, added on.)
I loved the homage to the things die hard fans had been missing lately. This was (I believe) the first time the Metal Car has had one of Dean's mullet rock tapes blasting. And, as all SPN finales must, the "previously on" montage had Kansas' "Carry On My Wayward Son."
The episode brought back that feel we've been missing too. This show has always been all about family. Since the first episode, when Sammy abandoned his life because Dad had gone missing on a "hunting trip," it's been about the brothers and the ties that bind them together. Most of this season, and last, has been missing a lot of that feel. I was thrilled to get it back tonight.

It's not. At least in the "living, breathing" way.
Speaking of Crowley. Have you ever read Good Omens?
