Monitor madness

Nov 10, 2004 23:39

I purchased a new 19" ViewSonic monitor from Best buy tonight and lugged it home only to find that the menu buttons push all the way into the case (great QA guys). Naturally I was expecting something to be wrong with it because I have what's known as the $100 curse. Every item, or service I buy that's over $100 seems to be defective or broken. ( Read more... )

I myself personally think they look a bit more crisper (At least some of them. Cant say about that model imparticualr since I dont have one). Course I personally am using a Sony Trinitron monitor.

Viewsonic > everything. Also you may want to checkout pricewatch.com and look at LCD prices. The only non shitty Samsung product I've seen are the laser printers.

So ViewSonic is better? I was disapointed some in that the Samsung claims to do 1280x1024 @85Htz. I cannot get the Viewsonic to go over 75 Htz when in 1280x1024.

i've never been satisfied with the quality that samsung puts out. You may try using different drivers to get higher refresh rates too. It possibly could be the graphics card. www.omegacorner.com might be able to help you out with that. I still say viewsonic or bust. www.pricewatch.com is your best friend.

Im not sure what its called, but check the pixel size on screen. If its 22 or less, go for it. Also check the scan rate. Some default at 60, if so, it can cause headaches from eye stress. The viewsonic that i have is default set at 70. Thats a good refresh rate. Anyways....good luck. :D

I still get headaches at 70 Htz. 85 or higher works best for me.

You can manually set the scan rate in the display properties/advanced tab on your system. I set mine at the highest available rate.

Of course. :D However some believe that when you set your scan rate to a higher level, like 85, it tends to wear out your monitor quicker. I dont know if thats true or not..so. Anyways, good day. :D

every viewsonic I've had kicked ass....currently using a 17 inch (have no idea what model #) but it has been humming along for 4 years with no problem. had a 15 inch sony trintron that I paid a fortune for, 2 months after the warranty ran out the tube took a crap.
