Hat pulled low, scarf wrapped around and around his body, her Time Lord slumped, huddled in a corner. Stiff with frost, he'd fallen deep into a regenerative coma.
She opened her jacket and snuggled in against him, sharing her human warmth. His heartbeats were sluggish and slow, off-rhythm. How many lives might he have used up, locked in, frozen, no way out?
She shivered against him, breathing him in while she had the chance.
"I know who you are." His hoarse whisper broke the silence.
She pulled back in alarm. Paradox?
"Bad Wolf!" Blue eyes open wide, his teeth gleamed in a big smile.
Rose stared, transfixed by her Time Lord's gaze- always the same immeasurable depths.
"Gallifreyans mate for life," he whispered, heatedly. "It will be so - and even if I've forgotten, it's always been so."
She saw in his arrogant smile the cheeky, indomitable creature he'd been, before the Wars.
"May I kiss you?" he whispered, velvety, into her ear.
His mouth claimed hers, hands no longer icy but sure and knowing, stroking her curves beneath her coat.
"How could I have held you, and held back -" His fierce, possessive kisses had Rose melting in his arms.
He pulled away, touching her lips with elegant fingers. "Always so sad- always walking away."
Rose just stared, trying to sear his passionate gaze into her brain. It was so unfair - here he was, hers to the core - but not the Doctor she was looking for.
"I'll remember you, one day, and on that day our bond will be complete," he promised. He always kept his promises.
She helped him stand, and turned, and pressed the button.

The sea wind whipped cold as she struggled to choose.
The man at her side leaned down to whisper in her ear.
"How could I have held you, and held back?" he said, velvety. "I love you, Rose Tyler--"
She grabbed him with both fists, kissing him fiercely, swearing she'd never again let him go.
Behind her, another man sadly turned away, but her Doctor was steady and warm in her arms.
