Argh, I know what you mean! My brother is the most hardcore atheist around, and I usually don't bother with closed-minded people, but he's my own brother so I feel a strong need to enlighten him. He always seems to gain the upper hand because he's a very sciency person, and can always think up a way to disprove my points, or just argue that I don't have enough evidence to prove my case. But, conversations shouldn't be treated like contests, and it's impossible to argue with someone who won't argue back. Maybe the next time your friend tries to shove athiest dogma down your throat, say something like, that's an interesting point, and treat his opinion as another way of looking at things. That's basically how I avoid becoming uncomfortably infuriated, because people who try to step on my religion like it's something I made up always push my buttons

Don't you just have days where you're certain of the Other Side, and then days when you feel like you're pretty sure everything you've ever believed is wrong? Personally, reading Sylvia's books reminds me instantly that the Other Side is real. They're good to have around in cases such as these. I hope everything works out for you!
Ain't that the truth!
Thank God the atheists I know don't give a rat's patooty about what I believe in (and vice versa). It makes things a lot easier :) That's the way the world should be, I think.
Has your brother ever used "don't push your beliefs on me/others" or something like "I don't like it when people push their beliefs..."?
Because if he does or ever did, it'd give you the upper hand, because he was doing just that with you! (With all due respect to him and you of course :)
Sometimes I love it when hardcore atheists say that, because then I can point out to them how alike they and their "enemies" are :)
