It's time for two shiny new Episodes in Focus. Next week we are looking at Bring on the Night and Awakening. Right into the meat of the mid-season arcs here, and lots to chew on. So from Monday your time, get sharing whatever you have to share on these body-count-tastic new Episodes in Focus.
Episode in Focus: Bring on the Night
Guys? Guys? We seem to have a slight… Apocalypse.
And also a Giles, which makes me happy. And also some Potentials, the first of many. And also the First, recognised by our characters at last. The First makes an important gain this week, freaking Willow out so much she won't use magic. And another, when we learn that the Council (and all its records and books) were destroyed in that explosion (the archivist in me *weeps* for the records and books, and slightly frowns at Giles for stealing some beforehand, even if that may save the world). But Spike is holding strong against the First and its blandishments and tortures. Even the one that looks and sounds like Drusilla.
(Oh, and we also have…. An UBERVAMP. Yes. Yes, indeed.)
Key quote:
ANDREW
Listen to me, man, I've got a bad feeling about this.
XANDER
Of course you've got a bad feeling, dude. You're-you're tied to a chair.
ANDREW
No. Yeah, but above and beyond that. I'm telling you that my spider-sense is tingling. This is gonna get hairy. I'm talking weird with a beard. Better untie me.
BUFFY
And that'll help us, how?
ANDREW
(sighs) OK, I know what you're thinking. Andrew, bad guy. You think I'm a super-villain like Dr. Doom or Apocalypse or-or The Riddler. But I admit I went over to the dark side, but just to pick up a few things, a-and now I'm back. I've learned. I'm good again.
BUFFY
And when were you good before? (Buffy and Xander walk out)
ANDREW
OK, technically, never. Touché. (struggles against his restraints) But I'm like Vader in the last 5 minutes of Jedi with redemptive powers minus a redemptive struggle of epic redemption which chronicles... (stops struggling and sighs) These ropes itch.

Episode in Focus: Awakening
.So, last week the Beast blotted out the sun. And last week, Cordelia remembered the Beast talking to… Angelus. And so this week, the gang decide to bring Angelus back.
Yes. Yes, they really did. It's the cue for a glorious Indiana-Jones-style romp through Angel's subconscious, reuniting with Connor, receiving an apology from Wes, kissing Cordy, saving the day… and all in the cause of losing his soul. Gah. And double gah. Make sure you keep that soul safe, guys. (Too much dramatic irony - ed.)
Key quote:
ANGEL: Right. Do you- Do you think Connor's right, that I'm being used by the Beast without even knowing?
CORDELIA: (quickly) No.
ANGEL: Are you just saying that?
CORDELIA: Yes. I don't know, Angel. It's possible.
ANGEL: Well, if I am, then I'm already a danger to you, all of you.
CORDELIA: Well, not like Angelus would be. I mean, he's-he's smart.
ANGEL: Excuse me?
CORDELIA: Well, you know what I mean...
ANGEL: You're saying Angelus is smarter than me.
CORDELIA: No, I mean....you're smart. He's just-
ANGEL: Ingenious.
CORDELIA: But in that twisted, sadistic, ruthless kind of way.
ANGEL: Like the Beast.
CORDELIA: Yes. Exactly. They think alike, always a step or two ahead of us. I mean, what is it about evil that jacks up the I.Q. points? It's like whenever...(notices Angel's resolute face) What? (Angel stands, walks back into the building) Angel.
(inside)
ANGEL: We're going to need a cage.
