Name: Yggdra Yuril Artwaltz
Source: Yggdra Union
History: Yggdra was born the crown princess of the Kingdom of Fantasinia, and for a good long time all seemed to be well. When she was seventeen, though, Fantasinia was invaded by the neighboring Bronquian Empire and Yggdra's parents were killed. Yggdra managed to escape with the holy sword Gran Centurio, Fantasinia's greatest treasure, in tow. She got the aid of the thief Milanor and his allies, promising them a castle in exchange for their assistance in reclaiming the kingdom; it was somewhat of a fair trade, though, considering that her hiding in their former hideout resulted in it being destroyed. They traveled the land, gathering allies and intervening in various incidents as they sought to liberate Fantasinia. One incident that would (quite literally) return to haunt Yggdra was her dealings with the feuding leaders of Verlaine Hills; in order to stop the war, it was decided that one of the leaders would have to be killed...but it did not return to haunt Yggdra till much later.
The march to reclaim Paltina, capital city of Fantasinia, did not end well either, but for a decidedly different reason: during the final battle for the capital, the army encountered Gulcasa, emperor of Bronquia and the man responsible for the deaths of Yggdra's parents. Overwhelmed with rage, Yggdra ran off after him, intending to pay him back for what he had done, but she was taken captive instead. Milanor and the others rescued her before she could be killed, however, and after some discussion, the group journeyed forth to have Yggdra's coronation ceremony. This wasn't as simple as it might seem, however, and it actually meant a great deal. For Yggdra to be crowned Queen meant that she would be able to harness the true powers of Fantasinia's relics: the sword Gran Centurio, which she had wielded the whole time, and the Miracle Tiara, which was located in a distant church. Not only that, but it required the presence of Joachim, the leader of the Merian religion; thus, their next journey was to find this man. It wasn't that simple, though, because there was a great deal of internal strife within the faith - the Empire's work - but in the end the responsible parties were taken care of, and the leader was saved. He and Yggdra journeyed to the land where the ceremony would take place, while Milanor and the others held off an attack by Gulcasa.
It was when she was on this island that the Verlaine Hills incident came back to haunt her, as the lost soul of the leader that she had killed was there, and she was able to sense the person's presence through her connection to the Gran Centurio. Realizing that it was truly no longer that person because of their behavior, she fought and sent the lost soul back to the other side, and was crowned by Joachim...and at this point Aegina, one of the soldiers in Gulcasa's army, showed up and dealt Joachim a fatal blow. This was all very disturbing since, as everybody had pointed out earlier, the only people who could get in were Joachim and those of royal blood; angrily, Aegina pointed out that that meant she fit at least one of those qualifications. She fought Yggdra, unwilling to accept her as Queen, and was defeated, causing her to flee. As he lay dying, Joachim informed Yggdra that Gulcasa was trying to revive Brongaa, the Dragon of Purgatory, who had wreaked havoc on the world in the past and would do so again if he were revived; it was her duty, then, to stop it. Yggdra rejoined her friends after this, and they went off to finally end the war with Bronquia.
Unfortunately, she didn't get to her next destination. (...instead, she woke up in a strange apartment building; this would be the point where I'm bringing her in.)
Personality: Yggdra is a somewhat naive, but well-meaning girl, compassionate and at the same time very polite thanks to her upbringing. She has her insecurities about failing her people and not being able to live up to their expectations, but is slowly starting to grow into her role as Queen - although she will not allow anybody to address her as such until the war with Bronquia is over. She has quite the temper at times, but ever since the incident where Gulcasa captured her, she's managed to keep it from overwhelming her again. Her journeys and her battles with other people have made her very thoughtful about the world she lives in, and she's started to wonder if maybe there's a way to end these wars - she's seen how terrible war is first-hand, after all. She does feel remorse for taking the lives of others, if the incident with the lost soul from Verlaine Hills means anything; perhaps this, as well as seeing war first-hand, has caused her to think seriously about these things.
Biggest Fear: That would probably be letting her people down, and/or being unable to aid them.
Powers: Yggdra is very good at wielding the sword Gran Centurio, despite it being about as tall as she is, maybe a bit taller. The events in the game involving ghosts make me think that she might be able to combat ghosts with this sword. She has a great affinity for the element of light and can use said element in her attacks. As of her coronation she has lost her weakness to the element of darkness - this basically means that it can still hurt her, but it's no longer her Achilles' heel in battle.

Third Person: Of all the things that could have happened, Yggdra had not expected this. She had witnessed strange things in her life, yes, but this was possibly the strangest: waking up in a room that was definitely not her own, alone after traveling with her friends and allies for so long, and with a piece of candy in her mouth. It had a warm taste, which was a sharp contrast to the cold she felt upon looking at her surroundings.
She could not tell yet why there were shivers running along her spine - whether the temperature was just intolerably low or because of fear. It was almost definitely fear; she was in a room that was not the one she had fallen asleep in yesterday. A cursory inspection of the room showed her that this was not a Bronquian jail cell, which meant Gulcasa had not taken her prisoner.
That knowledge should have comforted her, but it did not. If she were just in Bronquia, then she could have gotten home, one way or another. She did not know where she was now, though, and so getting home would likely be much more difficult.
She looked at the floor next to her, seeing the treasured Gran Centurio - the slight weight on her head told her that her crown was there with her, though this knowledge was no comfort. Gently, she placed one foot on the floor near the sword-
Immediately, she brought her foot back up to rest on the mattress, wide-eyed. She had felt fingers, colder than any living fingers could ever be, on her ankle.
It took her a while to stop shivering; even then, she did not feel like trying that again for a while.
First Person: [There is a bit of a pause before she starts speaking.]
It seems that this device is for communicating with people. I am not sure if I am doing this correctly, but…well, it probably will not hurt anything.
[Another pause, and a soft clearing of the throat.]
My name is Yggdra Yuril Artwaltz, and I am not sure where I am at the moment, nor am I sure of what is going on. This is not my home, nor…nor does it seem as though it is anywhere near it. If anyone is listening, and knows anything about what has happened or how to return home, I would truly appreciate it if you told me.
[After a while, quietly.] Now, how do I know if that message reached anyone?...
Notes: Yggdra Union's got a lot of choices - some allies are optional, for example, and you have to decide on your own which of the Verlaine Hills leaders must go and which one must live. I haven't seen anything showing which choices are canon and which ones aren't, so I'm leaving them ambiguous.
