I have the same reaction when I look back on old blog posts of mine, especially from the first year I kept a live journal. I was going through a lot of emotional stuff (mainly in transitioning to a poly relationship) and I was so wide open and raw with my feelings, it's hard for me to read now. But it was me, and it's valuable to keep it and even to look back on who I was then and see how much I've changed.
I look forward to reading more of your writing and seeing your art, wherever on the web it ends up.
It's become a lot easier in recent years to import and export blog entries from LiveJournal to elsewhere. You don't have to lose your archives if you decide to move to a new web space. Digital migration is easy. :)
Do it. Don't look back. Get a new blog, get your own webspace, stop generating ad revenue for some other company with YOUR content. It's not expensive and I think it's worth it. Also, I just archived my LJ on my hard drive with LJ Archiver. It's great!
Hey Sara! Are you still living in NYC until Feb? If so, we should try to get together sometime in January before you head down under =) Let me know! I'll be in Maine though from Christmas Day to January 2nd.
I'm not going to be around this Friday, as you mentioned over on Facebook, but I am going to be in Maine on Sunday, and staying for several days. Maybe after Christmas we could get dinner?
