Ooh. This is really nice. The structure is interesting- kind of a tease, but also fun because you get to play "What happens next...er, before...I mean..." :)

Can't wait for the next bit.

Well... what can I say? Apart from poor guys! Reed needs to learn to not be so damned attractive. Your characterisation - what little we've seen of it - appears to be spot on. What happened then?
