The night was cold. And Johnny could smell rain in the air.
Something ominous was just around the corner. He just didn't realize it yet.
EveEve knew what she had to do. She didn't like that it'd come to this, that she had to kill Johnny, but it had to be done. It was his own fault, really, him and Sean. But Sean had a family, a punishment of his own making. And someone had to make Johnny pay.
She had her gun under her coat and she checked once to reassure herself as she walked towards where Johnny was. Time for him to pay.
JohnnyJohnny was on the hospital's roof. He needed fresh air. He needed to sob without his wife witnessing his utter breakdown, his utter relief that she'd come to.
If she'd forgive everything, he would spend the rest of his life making the mistake he made, up to her.
...the two mistakes.
Hearing something, he narrowed his teary eyes, and turned around. "Eve?" he choked out. But just barely. He was overwrought with emotion.
Eve"Oh, good, you know who I am," Eve said. "You haven't taken complete leave of your senses, then. Just mostly." She narrowed her eyes at him as she walked closer. "Explain it, Johnny. Explain it and maybe you'll get to explain to her."
There was no way she was going to let him live, but nobody said she couldn't toy with him a little. And hey, who knew? Maybe he did have an explanation...
Okay, no. There was nothing that'd be good enough.
Johnny"It just happened, Eve," he began, knowing that if he refused to explain this to her, it'd just get ugly.
"There was scotch, conversation, and the next thing I knew we were in each others arms."
Eve"So scotch has magical adultery-inducing properties now?" Eve arched an eyebrow and folded her arms. "Someone needs to alert the companies that make it."
JohnnyHe sighed. "Did you come all the way up here to snark at me? Because if that is the case, you can leave. I know what I did was wrong and I'll spend the rest of my life making it up to her. But it's my business. Mine and Savannah's. So kindly back off and let me take care of things."
Eve"She is my daughter, therefore it is also my business," Eve said coolly. "You lost your right to handle it on your own when you had an affair with her brother."
Eve wondered if Savannah could or even would forgive Johnny for that. How did you forgive your soulmate for such a betrayal?
JohnnyThose words cut like a knife and he visibly flinched.
"I have much to be sorry for, I know it. But I won't discuss this with you."
Eve"That's all right." Eve smiled lazily as she drew the gun. "I don't plan on us doing a whole lot more talking, anyway."
Johnny"Whoa, that's taking things a bit too far, don't you think?" he asked, stunned.
Eve"You should know by now, Johnny, that you don't get away with hurting a Levine woman." Eve smirked. There was a trail of bodies to attest to that fact... not that any of them could be traced back to her, of course. She was smarter than that. "And since Savannah isn't in any condition to take care of you and Dahlia's got the offensive skills of a newborn kitten, it falls to me."
Johnny"She's a Storm," he dared to point out. "She will always be a Storm. And what, you think killing me is going to help her? She'll hate you forever, Eve, and you know it. Are you willing and ready to accept that?"
Lightning flashed overhead and the thunder was ominously loud.
SavannahThe audience wouldn't get a chance to hear whether or not Eve was ready to accept that, because as the lightning flashed and the thunder crashed, Savannah appeared, running towards them. As she reached them, the sky opened up and it started to rain, causing the unsuitable dress she was wearing to start clinging to her legs.
"Mama, no!" she cried, valiantly placing herself between Johnny and the gun Eve was pointing at him. "I won't let you do this, you can't!"
The camera panned from the gun to Savannah's stricken face and wide eyes, and then back to the gun again.
Eve"I can and I will," Eve shouted. "He hurt you. He betrayed you. He deserves to die and you know it."
She lowered the gun slightly -- but only slightly.
"How can you defend this man? How can you possibly be ready to forgive him?"
Johnny"Savannah!" Johnny cried, his lashes wet and spikey from the heavy downpour, making his already handsome self, super sexy in the night rain. And flashes of lightning. And thundering clashes just overhead.
The close-up shot moved from his face to his arm as he snaked it around his wife, attempting to pull her back behind him, out of dangers way.
Savannah"Are you willing to take the chance of hitting me with a bullet to get revenge on him, Mama?" Savannah cried out with anguish lacing her words.
Somehow, even though she had been in a coma and was much smaller than he was, Savannah managed to make herself very hard for Johnny to move. (Soap opera physics. Just go with it.)
"He fucked up and he fucked up big time, I can't argue that. But he is still my husband and he doesn't deserve to die because he was stupid." She looked at her mother steadily, even as tears had started mixing with the rain. "No matter what he's done, I still love him and it's for me to decide if I forgive him or not. He's my soulmate, Mama. You even said it yourself before."
The music rose dramatically.
"Besides, there's a very important reason that I cannot let you kill him," she declared. "Even more important than how I feel about him."
The camera panned from her face to Johnny's and then to Eve's.
EveEve would've known how to shoot Savannah so as not to hurt her but to kill Johnny. (Again, soap opera physics.)
But the music rising dramatically had caught her attention. She wasn't an idiot after all. She knew how to listen to big hints.
"...What is it?" she asked, lowering her gun but still keeping it out. You didn't put a gun away when there was still danger of you needing it.
JohnnyJohnny's face was a mask of confusion paired with shame and anguish. It was going to take a lot to make this mess he'd created, up to Savannah.
But there was a gun so he paid attention to her and kept his eyes on Eve.
"Savannah? What are you talking about?"
SavannahSavannah looked back at Johnny for a long moment, her blue eyes shimmering with the tears. She reached tentatively to lay a hand on his arm, and then turned to look at Eve.
"I don't want my child to grow up without a father," she said dramatically, with a soulful note in her voice.
Eve"... I'm going to be a grandmother?"
Yes, at the moment, this was all that mattered. Such was the way of the universe, after all. They could deal with the whole her wanting to kill Savannah's husband thing in a minute.
Johnny"You're what?" he asked, shocked.
She was pregnant? "Why didn't you tell me... before all of this happened?">
SavannahHer eyes were very wide and sad as she looked at him. "I had just found out that day. I was going to tell you and then..."
She looked away, her small frame shuddering in the rain as she took a deep breath. "When I woke up and saw you and Sean, I didn't think it would matter. It wouldn't have changed anything. But then Dahlia told me Mama was coming after you to kill you and I couldn't let that happen."
She met his eyes as the music became sad and then looked back down. "Whether you still love me or not, I couldn't let that happen and I don't want my baby to be fatherless."
Johnny"Oh my god, sweetheart." Johnny stepped closer to her, but refrained from touching her. He wasn't sure he would be welcomed. He wouldn't blame her if he wasn't.
There was no shame in his tears, however, and they flowed freely. "I love you. I love you so much. I swear I'll spend the rest of my life proving that to you if you'll just have me. I want to be a father, a good father. Savannah," he choked, "I'm so sorry."
And to his knees before her, he fell. It was all so heartbreakingly dramatic, rly. The viewers were eating this stuff up.
EveEve stood there, watching the scene with an emotionless face. If you looked closely enough, though -- very very closely -- you could see a smile starting to think about forming.
And something had become clear to her -- the fact that while, yes, Johnny had fucked up... he was sorry. He truly seemed as though he wanted to make amends. But more than that, he seemed to want to be a father.
How could she deprive him of that chance?
