Goodbye Fidelity, Hello School, oh and Podcast Me!

So... Things got busy. No, not just busy: hectic.

The two biggest pieces of news:

1) I resigned from Fidelity!!! - And I can say the name without getting fired for it, now! :D (That's actually an oversimplification, but it's also not far from the truth of the internet policy for licensed representatives.) I'm FREE of investments and economics ( Read more... )

school, work at fidelity, destiny dispatch, video games, life updates

That sounds like the major *I* need! I graduated *koff* years ago with degrees in Journalism and English, and the world of reporting has changed so much I would be lost if I had to get a job tomorrow. Maybe I need to find some seminars on blogging-as-reporting and monetizing your blog. :) Anyway, congrats on your decision to go back to school...I wish you much success!

How much could writing change? ;) (Oh wait. You probably got your degree back when journalism valued facts over unverified rumors, anonymous sources, and blog/Twitter/Facebook rants. LOL)

It's a pretty versatile degree. The most annoying thing about it is that people of my parent's generation and older that I tell think it's a worthless degree. They give me that "you'll learn..." look/speech while I nod and smile while wondering when they think communication, internet savvy, web design, creativity, and coding will ever become "outdated and useless." The only pie-in-the-sky aspect is that I hope to get into the gaming industry with it, but that's actually achievable if you ignore the competitive part.

LOL)Ok, I have a Twitter rant! It drives me absolutely bonkers to read an actual newspaper report on celebrity breakups and read who unfollowed whom first! And then there's the lazy reporting when journalists go through Twitter to get celeb quotes when someone dies or there's some other national tragedy. Lazy! What happened to CALLING sources? Ugh ( ... )

As I said on Twitter, my issues with always-on aren't licensing issues but privacy issues. Straight up, I don't want to be profiled. I'm forever blowing away my cookies and pruning third-party cookies and history files. DoNotTrackMe and AdBlock+ are beautiful things. It's really just not Microsoft's or Sony's business where I go on the Internet or what I do with my gaming time. And PII is a whole other can of worms.

Targeted ads are the way the future is going, though; they make more sense, and honestly, I'm sick to death of seeing Cialis commercials ( ... )

I love the icon you used... That would so totally be use. Although since you give the better advice, you're Jake and I'm Finn. Anyway, I have missed you as well my friend! I'm still waiting for my visit too. How is everyone? And what have you been up to lately?
