Yuletide Letter Thingy
Dear Yuletide Writer Person,
Hiiii. :D First of all, thank you so much for signing up! I'm new to this Yuletide business, so I apologize in advance for the rambly incoherent mess I imagine this letter is going to be.
A little bit about my fandom-tastes in general: Since I apparently suffer from this illness, I tend to favor the black sheep; characters who are blatantly flawed, conflicted villains and screwups in general. I also tend to dig the comic-relief characters, so the ones who manage to combine both traits get a gold star in my book. I like redemption stories and a mixture of seriousness and comedy, usually go for the slash but have a soft spot for certain het pairings, too. I love frenemy (sometimes plain enemy) shipping and odd couples, and a buncha other stuff but my brain is malfunctioning so let's move on.
Some stuffs I like in fic:
- humor
- angst
- hurt/comfort (biiig kink)
- well-done dialogue (especially banter) and internal monologue
- optimistic endings (those can be happy, open-ended, bittersweet...)
- characterization-driven smut (the porn itself, while awesome, isn't quite as interesting to me as the characters it involves)
As far as squicks go, I can't really think of many (I’m fine with dubcon/noncon as long as it makes sense in context), but I'd prefer no deathfic or anything overly dark (i.e. feel free to abuse the characters all you want - I love me some abuse - but please return them in one piece, more or less?).
Okay, so... requests!
1) The Stand: Lloyd Henreid
The Stand is one of those canons I find often cheesy and deeply flawed (Hand of God? Really?) but love anyway, mainly because of the nostalgia factor (I read it first when I was about eleven), and because I'm invested in the characters. Lloyd is my favorite hands down, in all his spree-killing, rat-snacking glory. He's a fuckup, a dumbass, a smartass, comi-tragic, a lot of fun, and overall very, very human. I think he's woefully neglected in what passes for the fandom and I want to correct this injustice! ...well, mostly I just want some fic. :D
What I'd like most is something on the shippy side (and please feel free to go wild with this -- I'd be down with anything from Flagg/Lloyd to Dayna/Lloyd to Shirley/Lloyd to, hell, Larry/Lloyd if you can pull it off), but when I say shippy, I don't necessarily mean romantic-shippy -- I mean relationship-focused. But that can easily be a gen friendship, too, if you prefer that. I'd also appreciate an AU-ish angle of some sort (like, what if Flagg hadn't been the one to find Lloyd in Phoenix, what if Lloyd hadn't shot Glen, etc), since I'm not exactly the biggest fan of the original ending. Go figure, huh?
Oh, and small but important note: I'm talking about the book version of Lloyd and not the mini-series one. Mini-series Lloyd, while great, is pretty damn different from the goofball in the novel. Miguel Ferrer, you’re awesome and I’mma let you finish, but book!Lloyd is the best Lloyd of ALL TIME.
2) Preacher: Jesse/Tulip/Cassidy
Guess who my favorite character is. Go on, guess! ...It’s Cassidy! Shocking, innit? Aaanyway, I love the Jesse/Cass relationship and would love a fic that explores it (as slashily as possible :3) as well as the trio dynamic, especially post-canon since there's a ton of issues and fresh wounds to deal with. If it’s at all possible, I would love an OT3.
3) The Dollars Trilogy: Tuco/Blondie
Yes, I ship it! Don't you? It's really one of those itch-that-needs-scratching ships as far as I'm concerned, so the details aren't as important, honestly. Something funny/porny/fairly light-hearted (well, the spaghetti western variant of light-hearted, anyway) would be awesome.
