Heeey I'm gonna have to reply tomorrow 'cause I'm half passed out at the moment, but I just wanted to say thank you so much for commenting and HELLO FELLOW OBSESSEE. :D *friends*
Yeah sorry about that sometimes I get a severe case of verbal diarrhea especially when it's something/someone I'm passionate about.
But yay new Walton obsessed friend!!! I need more of those. I've been secretly hoping someone would put up a Walton or at least Justified friending meme so I could stock up. None of my current friends appreciate the Goggins. :(
You so don't need to apologize! Obviously I suffer from a similar affliction, and it's awesome to find some like-minded people. XD
The road from 'oh this guy is interesting' to obsession was pretty short in my case -- I tuned in for Justified mainly for Timothy Olyphant and because the pilot got good reviews, and then a couple of weeks later I was marathoning through the Shield like a crazy person. Walton's just ELECTRIC.
I'm so glad you found this post helpful!! :D I really felt there was a need for one, now that the guy is starting to get some of the appreciation he deserves.
P.S. Speaking of Tim DeKay, have you seen Carnivale? That's where I've seen the most of him, and it's a pretty awesome mindscrewy show.
Oh my goodness. I loved the hell out of this. I suppose I will have to actually go dig up (heh) Red Dirt, if only because I had no idea Mr. Goggins was hiding all that under his clothes. Oh and the other one with the soccer and the clogging, I must see that. Excellent bedtime fodder! Thanks!
Thank you!! I'm very glad you enjoyed it. :D Indeed, if there's one complaint I have about Justified, it's that Boyd is constantly criminally overclothed. Raylan and his nipples got their moment to shine, after all, so it's only fair for Boyd to be given the same courtesy.
But yeah, Red Dirt = eye candy to the extreme, Randy and the Mob = eye candy + highly quotable quirkiness. Strangely, Damage is the one I enjoyed the most out of the movies he has a significant role in (I expect Predators will change that), but I'm just weird like that.
I won't lie, I had put Predators in my To Netflix mental pile until I saw Walton was in it and then it was all, "So, we're seeing this opening weekend. Excellent."
I hope so too. We need to see him in a cowboy role on par with Olyphant's role in Deadwood. And in ten years when Justified is finished, I fully intend to write and produce that role 8D
I approve of this plan so much! XD Walton is way overdue for an awesome cowboy role (I do believe outlaw will always be his niche and I'm all for that -- outlaws are more fun! But I want a role on par with, idk, Russel Crowe's in 3:10 to Yuma).
Ah, The Shield... *glares at mailbox for lack of package containing DVDs*
Yeah, I definitely regret shipping Shane/Vic. And I did it after only 3 episodes. From season six >.> After a few horror shows i tried desperately to ship Shane with anyone else, including the dead guy that I'd never actually seen him interact with. Damn you Chiklis, why are you so off putting?
The one thing that puzzles me from snooping around the fandom is that a lot of people reference the "mad love" line translating it as mad = crazy, that he has this insane sort of love for him. As written and said the line translates as mad = much, like 'i have much love for this person', a deep affection.
Shane/Vic... is very, very hard not to ship. Even now, when I'm rewatching bits of earlier seasons, I can't help it. It's chock-full of subtext, and it's the focal relationship of the show. It's possible to ship Shane/Lem (but they're like fratboyish best buds and I never got that vibe from them), and I'd be open to Shane/just about anyone, but other than Shane/Mara (which is a mess on its own right, but at least you know they both really love each other), everything pales in comparison to the Vic/Shane intensity.
BUT IT IS A TERRIBLE, ABUSIVE, DESTRUCTIVE SHIP. x_x
Haha, the mad love thing... I think it's more that fandom (not that there's much of a Shield fandom) chooses to misinterpret that line, because on a meta plane, it works both way. Shane DOES have mad love for Vic, no matter which way you look at it. Otherwise, he'd probably have turned out a much more well-adjusted human being. XD
I will definitely be looking for other shipping possibilities for Shane when I watch it. (and I will have to stop thinking of an Alan Ladd western whenever I hear the character's name -_-) I'm just a little afraid that I'll fall deeper into shipping Shane/Vic. After all, I did ship Alvarez/Torquemada. You couldn't even cite friendship as a saving grace on that one.
That makes a lot of sense. Aww, poor Shane. Stupid Vic, couldn't you see what you were doing to him?
Well, good luck (SHIP SHANE/DUTCH I DARE YOU), but I warn you, Vic/Shane is contagious. And more destructive than Alvarez/Torquemada, I'd say (Alvarez was doomed before it, not because of it).
I'm just gonna quote Shane (since you're all spoiled, I hope that's okay -- if not skip this paragraph!) on why Vic/Shane is horrible: Vic led, but I kept following. I don't think one's worse than the other, but we made each other into something worse than our individual selves. I wish I'd never met him.
He's wrong though, Vic is WAY WAY worse. xD Shane is just a stupid damaged child. Vic is a sociopath.

I'll probably have to settle for a crappy cam version until it gets here, which is God knows when.

I do sorta love his weird scruffy cowboy roles, though I hope they actually give him one worthy of his awesomeness in Cowboys & Aliens!
