Figured that roughly once in a lifetime, I can make an LJ post that isn't fandom-centric. So, yesterday, I went to a Yehudit Ravitz concert. It was BADASS. I just wanted to share this song:

I have a complicated love/hate relationship with this country, but some parts of it are just heartbreakingly beautiful.

Ooh, lovely. The only Israeli music I'm really familiar with is Idan Raichel's; I'm really glad you posted this.

I'm glad you enjoyed it! I'm honestly anything but an Israeli music expert myself (I'm sure you know more about Idan Raichel than I do, for one), but it being such a small country, there are a few major singers/songwriters that are pretty much ingrained into the culture, and she's one of them. I can link a few more Israeli songs I like, if you want!

And I still intend to answer the pseudo-intellectual comment, I just need to formulate my opinion on a few things. You know how it gets exponentially (first I typo'd 'sexponentially', which is also interesting) harder to do something the more you put it off? IT APPLIES TO LJ COMMENTS TOO.

AHAHAHAHAHhahahahhahahahhahahhhhhhh. Yeah, no. One of my best friends is a serious Israeli-music-knowitall (he's actually more of a music know-it-all, but in a good way. He's not mean about it, he just knows e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g. It's insane.) who's been living in Israel and volunteering in a leprosy clinic for the past year. (Not the point. The point is, he was feeding his Israeli / Arabic music habit.) He puts me to serious shame when it comes to Idan Raichel. He's delivered lectures that I fell asleep halfway through. But! I would love some more links! I'll mention the songs to him and then get a free education, to boot!

Well see, you assume I know something about Idan Reichel, but other than being aware of his general existence, I can't really claim that. So that makes you better informed, even if most of your knowledge was absorbed during sleep.

Moar songs:

Another one by Yehudit Ravitz, about a woman involved in an affair with a married man. It's raw and beautiful.

And that's her biggest hit (with good reason!).

This is one of my favorite songs, by Yehuda Poliker. It's called 'Hurts but Less' (it sounds prettier in Hebrew, I promise!).

And that's just a timeless classic. :D

Eeep, yeah, two years is a lot. I'm not sure what to recommend, because I'm personaly terrible at writing to keep in touch (I find chat easier, if it's possible), so I'll just say good luck!

I... I'm not sure I know them. >_> I suck at music, okay. I mostly discover it through movie/tv soundtracks, or when people feel like educating me. :P

Seriously? I didn't know it was dead! It's been like, what, 7 years since I was last there? NOSTALGIA (I still feel deep shame for not knowing who Don Corleone was back in the day, let me tell you -- being 15 is no excuse!). I do my roleplaying on LJ now. How's the reboot going? :D

So it's fourteen years after the last post.

| still think of you a lot, and | miss talking and

writing with you, though | was such a stupid

kid then and there was so much about me

and the world | didn't know yet (because my

parents were forcibly isolating me to keep me

as a source of income, which | didnt realize

until years later).

| transitioned. | realized |m autistic. | have a

teenager. | bought a two-story house and

everything went wrong so | built a shrine in

the basement with a Money Pit poster and a

St. Tom Hanks candle and | thought you

would have thought it was funny.

| still write about those people, those places,

they show up in all my original work, I'm still

living in those worlds, those games, and the

world has so much of you and the others in it

that | feel like we built it together, but | am the

only one left there, and no one will ever come

again because no one can see it from the

outside.

It's a little projection around just me, like a VR

experience | don't get to take off.

Blame the autism ( ... )
