Summary : Kim Kibum was broken.. until him.

...

I'm here again, a thousand miles away from you
A broken mess, just scattered pieces of who I am
I tried so hard, thought I could do this on my own
I've lost so much along the way
Kibum sighed for the umpteenth time that night. He was in France, studying fashion and trying to make it big. It was just two weeks ago that he had hold a fashion show as one of the promising young designers in fashion line. Kibum was in the middle of planning his next one but ideas seemed to escape him.

Kibum groaned and turned off the TV when he caught yet another cover story about his successful fashion show and so forth on the news. He was tired. He loved the limelight, but not the price that came with it like being followed by the paparazzi who kept harassing his personal space. He was lucky he had practice in dealing with annoying people when he was in college. His mentor pretty much taught him how to be sassy, sarcastic but loved and bossy but respected - and Kibum thanked the heavens for his mentor and those lessons.

Kibum let out a deep chuckle when he remembered who he was a few years back - weak, lifeless, unknown, and worthless. He was finally somebody now and hell, he felt like he finally redeemed himself and his life. So why did it feel so wrong?

Kibum was known for his strong but friendly personality in France. But now he did not feel so strong anymore. Suddenly, he felt his heart clenching tightly and his head throbbing, trying to remember why he felt so down.

He’s not here.. was what Kibum’s heart whispered.

Then I'll see your face, I know I'm finally yours
I find everything I thought I lost before
You call my name, I come to you in pieces
So you can make me whole
Kibum closed his eyes and conjured the image he loved dearly. When he saw Minho’s big bright eyes twinkling with mirth and his lips stretched in a grin showing his perfect teeth, Kibum could feel the pain in his heart dissipated.

I miss you.

In his head, Minho was opening his arms, beckoning Kibum to come closer to him. Kibum, he heard Minho said. Oh, how he missed that voice.

Kibum took a step forward. Then another. And another. Soon, he was in Minho’s arms. We’re whole again, Kibum said in his head. Minho’s deep chuckle vibrated against his body. Kibum smiled and nuzzled his nose against Minho’s neck, inhaling his scent. He missed this. He missed Minho’s warmth. He missed Minho.

Unconsciously, Kibum raised his arms to lock the taller man in his own embrace but the moment Kibum’s hand rested on his back, Minho disappeared.

Kibum snapped his eyes open and clenched his fists, willing the tears in his eyes to dry.

I've come undone
But you make sense of who I am
Like puzzle pieces in your eye
Kibum remembered how he felt when he first met Minho. It was on a rainy night and he had been grateful to have been able to meet Minho. They had been strangers but Minho understood him perfectly fine.. better than he knew himself sometimes.. well, most of the times.
Kibum remembered the arguments and the outbursts he had with Minho. He remembered feeling lost and helpless until Minho came along and taught him to smile again. Minho always made Kibum felt safe and whole.. and loved.

“I don’t even know me. How the hell do you know me so well?!!!” Kibum demanded. Minho just looked at him with sadness in his eyes.
Kibum was frustrated as to how Minho could always find him easily, no matter how hard he tried to hide. He was upset as to how Minho seemed to understand him better than he did himself.

Kibum turned and walked towards the door.

“Because I love you.”

Kibum stopped in his stride and faced Minho. He watched as the taller boy neared him. He felt Minho took his hands in his warm ones. He felt Minho kissed his forehead. And just like that, everything was alright again.

I tried so hard, so hard
I tried so hard
Kibum sighed and decided to leave France for the time being. After he finished packing, he looked around his luxurious apartment. He smiled at his own success. But when he remembered how it all started, he frowned.

It was right after graduation that Kibum got the offer letter. He was so happy that day but when his family got to know about the offer, they scoffed and said Kibum would never succeed. They said that Kibum would be wasting his time and their money if he went to that institution. When Kibum told them he was given a scholarship because of his outstanding ideas and creations, they snickered.

“I bet the judges are blind to give you all that.” One of his family members had said.

“What did you do?” another demanded.

“You slept with them, didn’t you?” came another taunt. The rest snickered.

Kibum shook his head furiously at the accusation. He excused himself and walked out of the family house eventhough it was raining heavily outside.

Kibum ran and he cried harder than ever. He was tired. He was tired of trying to make everyone happy and proud of him. He tried so fucking hard. But nobody seemed to be happy. All he got was criticism and hatred by his own family.

Kibum dropped to the ground and did not bother to get up. He just cried while sitting there, in the middle of nowhere with the rain hitting him until he was soaked to the bone.

Then I'll see your face, I know I'm finally yours
I find everything I thought I lost before
You call my name, I come to you in pieces
So you can make me whole
So you can make me whole
Kibum lost track of time. He just stared at the ground blankly when the rain suddenly stopped drenching him. Kibum could hear the thunder booming loudly in the background, signaling it was still raining.

Kibum looked up ….

and saw him. His tears fell again, but this time, it was of relief.

He watched as Minho crouched before him and touched his tear stricken cheek with his right hand. He closed his eyes at the warmth. He felt Minho brushed his tears away, one cheek then the other.

“Kibum.”

Kibum reveled in the baritone voice before opening his eyes to look into the orbs belonged to the man he loved.

Minho smiled. “I’m here.”

Kibum closed his eyes again, letting Minho’s deep soothing voice and the words he uttered wash the pain away. When he felt Minho’s warm lips on his forehead, he opened his eyes and smiled at the man.

Minho just smiled softly. “Let’s go home.”

Minho reached for Kibum’s hand, intertwined their fingers and pulled the latter up. Kibum felt himself being wrapped up in the warmth that was Minho and he felt safe. Comfortable. Whole.

As they walked through the rain together, Kibum could feel the pain in his heart ebb little by little until all there was was Minho. He turned his head, snuggling his face in the crook of Minho’s neck and whispered, “Thank you.”

Kibum jolted back to reality when the pilot announced that the plane was about to land. Kibum automatically got up and followed the other passengers as they headed out of the plane for their luggage.

Kibum hefted his suitcases and dumped them on the trolley. He felt nothing. He felt nothing at all though he was back in Korea, the place he had left for 3 years until now.

Kibum pushed his trolley and watched with slight envy as he saw a woman and her son ran up to the man in front of him. He watched with a tinge of sadness as the man kissed his wife and hugged the child close to his heart. Their shouts of laughter and the tears on their faces made Kibum wonder, would he get to feel that?

Kibum shook his head and kept on pushing his trolley forward.

Kibum did not know where to go. All he knew was to keep pushing his trolley forward, ignoring his surroundings.

“Kibum.”

That voice. That tone.

Kibum whirled around and tears sprang into his eyes. As Kibum was rooted to the floor, the man made his way to Kibum.

Kibum could feel tears running down his face. The man only reached out a hand and brushed his tears away like he did years ago, a soft smile playing about his lips.

A whimper tore out from Kibum’s lips as he jumped into the man’s arms. “Minho. Minho.. God. I missed you.. I missed you so much!!”

“Kibum..” Kibum felt Minho held him with his right arm and pressing a kiss on his temple before pulling away and looked down.

Kibum was confused until he saw Minho’s line of vision. He gasped.

A beautiful sleeping baby was cradled in Minho’s left arm. Kibum felt his heart breaking, but before it could shatter, he heard Minho’s voice. “Hey little one.. wake up, daddy is here..”

Kibum watched in fascination as the baby responded to Minho’s soft coo. He watched as the baby’s eyes opened and blinked before yawning. The baby was so cute. Minho chuckled and Kibum felt himself chuckling along. But then, the faintest of smile tugged at the baby’s lips and Kibum’s heart stopped.

Minho’s deep chuckle resonated again. “Looks like she recognized you.”

When Kibum looked up at him confusedly, Minho transferred the baby into his right arm. He reached for Kibum’s left hand and showed him the rings they both had been wearing for the past few years - their promise ring.

Kibum’s brows furrowed. Minho took out the chain around the baby’s neck, eliciting small gurgling sound from the baby. Kibum’s heart fluttered at the lovely sound but his eyes were focused on the pendant.

Haewon

Kibum snapped his feline eyes back to Minho’s doe ones. Recognition and understanding dawned on Kibum and his laughter bubbled out of his throat.

..Flashback..
“If we had a daughter, what would you name her?” Minho asked in one of their online conversations.

Kibum thought for awhile. “Haewon.”

“Why?”

Kibum smiled. “Because be it Kim or Choi, both of our family names sound great with Haewon.”

Minho laughed and Kibum never felt happier though the idea was almost impossible to be realized.
..End of flashback..

“God, I love you.” Kibum fisted his hand around Minho’s and kissed the taller man with all the passion and love in the world. He rested his forehead against Minho’s. “I felt so lost there.. I missed you, Minho.. I felt lacking.. but you're here now. And I’m whole again..”

Kibum could feel Minho’s smile and his heart fluttered but when Minho spoke, Kibum felt his heart doing a flip in happiness. “We’re whole again.. because you're home..”

Kibum let himself drown in Minho’s words for a moment before pulling back and scooping the baby up into his arms and nuzzled her. Minho wrapped his left arm around Kibum and pushed the trolley with his right.

“Let’s go home,” was what Minho said.

Kibum smiled brightly at Minho. “Thank you.. for everything.”

Kim Kibum was lost and broken.
Choi Minho was his saving grace.
He helped Kibum put himself together.
He showed Kibum how to love, hope, dream, and be happy.
Most importantly, he gave Kibum two things he knew Kibum had always craved - acceptance and love.

A/N : I don't know. "It started in the rain" isn't even supposed to be two shots but because I wrote them at the same time.. and one was according to Minho, this is according to Kibum.. so I think it only made sense if the're together.. plus, this second one has a more appropriate "ending".. sort of..

idek.. sorry if I disappoint. ><"
