Usopp wants to be brave (to be a pirate, lead a life of adventure) because she wants to be.
This makes all sorts of sense. It's interesting to me that it's pretty much the same motivation I'm seeing for an AU Usopp whose WIP I've had on the back-burner for a while. This is a male Usopp whose father died when he was little some time after his mother left them to becoming a pirate.
...that sounds like an incredible AU, and therefore I must wholeheartedly encourage you to keep it.
Writing this was kind of on-the-fly, but that was one of the parts that really kept poking at me. I think it's amazing that switching something as simple and seemingly insignificant as gender or the parents could possibly change Usopp's entire reasoning behind his dream.
Thanks for the encouragement! It's much appreciated, believe me.
I can't claim credit for the idea - it came from an anonymous prompt/request on my journal last year when I asked for such things. (I write slooowly.)
I don't think it's that strange - people are more apt to see the parent of the same gender as them as role models to follow, which tends to be how society views it, too.

...I highly support this. Which you totally saw coming. "Sanjiiiii, you're normal again! ;A;"

Normal indeed. 8| Damn Luceti, screwing shit up. She missed her boobs.

And once more in Luceti, Sanji would willingly put on a skirt. Only this time it wouldn't merit sedation.
