Yay, I am so glad to popularize any of these! :) And yeah, I could bash those marketing people on the head. I know men who would really like this book but with the art and series title only one of them would even think of looking at it.
The truly unfortunate thing about marketing what sounds like a dark, angst-heavy fantasy as a historical romance is that even the readers who do pick up the book will probably end up being disappointed. After all, if you buy a novel in which you expect a pseudo-medieval lord to sweep a fair maiden off her feet (overpowering her and leaving her defenceless in the face of his sheer masculinity), you are unlikely to be happy about being presented with something completely different instead.
The other books I'm looking at are Gameboard of the Gods, Fortune's Pawn and Ancillary Justice.
