It depends. When you first start, you get great hours because you need training. Always keep your availability open on the weekends and a little during the week, if possible.

Hours during school:
Fridays: 5:30-11, 6-11, or 6:30-Close.
Saturdays: Any time during the day, from open to close (10-1130)
Sundays: Open(10) to 11, no longer because of school the following day.

During the week, they don't give you many hours unless you can work during the day or close. Sometimes, they give people 6-9 shifts, or 3-9 or sometimes 230 to 1030, but that's rare...

And so, the school hours are done and for the summer, you get hours pratically every single day unless you request off or they just decide that you suck ass. o_O;

So since I'm starting in the summer, if I say they can give me whatever hours they want and that I can work whenever, would I be able to just work on the weekends when school starts up? This is bugging me cuz they only time I get to see Matt is on the weekends >_

Yes, just weekends. But you can minimize the hours that you can work. You can say that you can't work on Sundays because of church and you can't work nights on Saturdays because you have to go to church in the morning. ^-^; So that way, you only work Friday nights and Saturday days and get to spend the other half of the weekend with Matt to see free movies or whatever. Just wait until you've worked through the summer and get to know the managers slightly. They'll let you do it.
