Ever notice how many of the great duelists have some sort of magical ability or split personality?

Or they outright aren't human at all, like the spirits that constantly appear to screw around with us on a large scale?

Not all great duelists have special abilities and to be honest, most of the duelists who do, don't have any kind of ability that helps them in a duel. The very few that might probably have a choice whether to use it or not and so they don't use it in regular duels.

In the end, it's down to everyones own raw talents as a duelist and how deep their bond is with their deck that counts more than anything.
