Preserving Inaccuracies and Parenting Fails

One of the things that makes children cute is the inaccuracies of their language. The cuteness wears off quickly once they are trying to communicate more complex subjects, but for a brief few years it is endearing. What does she get by fighting that she doesn't get by agreeing? More of your attention? More time with you?

Might ask her? Seems like a good thing to find out and maybe a step toward teaching her self-awareness?

Meanwhile, she really is quite adorable and curious. I like her spunk!

Maybe offer that once she has her pants on, there could be a tickle fight?

Alice has an expander now, which is briefly returning us to the adorable mispronunciations. When she gets this thing off her diction is going to be much improved.

My favorite of my daughter's mispronunciations was turning "pomegranate" into "pongamaggot." She also had a hard time with "L" and so referred to herself as a "yittle girl" for years.

L! We also used to have a yittle girl who ate yunch and turned off the yight. (We still sometimes eat yunch and turn off the yight. How can't one?)

My favorite of Tenn's right now is tomato for tornado. "Mama! A tomato is coming!" I was also very tickled by Romana's persistent use of anything when she meant nothing.
