There's a lot of fear and loathing in this election. The right hates the candidate of the left and left hates the candidate of the right. My facebook feed is full of statements that the Democrats are tearing themselves apart and that the Republicans nominee is the death knell of the Republican party. * "Peace-loving Greenies are teaming up with isolationist libertarians" ? They're still running separately. I haven't see teaming up.
* "Good Catholics are looking at a twice-divorced atheist with no record of service and turning Democrat" Is 'Good' a deliberate qualifier there? Catholics in general have generally leaned Democratic, I think, though weakly so -- mostly, there are so many nominal Catholics that they largely reflect the country as a whole.
Other points:
* map, yeah: Utah's polling as a dead three-way heat between Hillary, Trump, and undecided. Georgia is in play. OTOH, we've had maps before that went almost entirely blue or red; that indicates a terrible candidate more than a big shift.
* Then again, I just looked and the US electoral college map really was mostly red from 1968 until 1992, with 1976 as the one exception.
* RNC was the first convention to make people say they're less likely to vote for the nominee.
